I would personally say that was his peak as an offensive player. I never saw a player dominate a postseason like LeBron did that year. Monster game after monster game and a shit ton of clutch moments.

I don't think they win, but I'll always be curious how the Finals play out if Game 1 doesn't end so catastrophically. LeBron was playing at a god like level and that would have given them so much confidence heading back to Cleveland.

Wish I could find that old gif of LeBron fist fighting Curry/KD/Klay/Draymond and holding his own. That's what game 1 felt like.
I never understood why Curry got no credit for the 15' ring due to the Cavs' injuries, yet Lebron gets credit for beating a rookie Celtics' team that was injured.. The Celtics were missing the same guy that put Lebron over the top in 16' and Luka in 24' - the difference-maker - Kyrie Irving.

Cavs were down 3-2 and won games 6 and 7 without Kevin Love. Btw, since you have a history of bringing up PER...
2018 playoffs - LeBron: 32.2 PER
1991 playoffs: MJ: 32.0 PER
i think his scoring prime were against those earlier celtics(big 3) and indy series, pre-warriors. his 2016 finals performance is still GOAT level but damn, he went on an absolute tear single-handily against those teams in the playoffs. it was herculean.

It ended catastrophically because Lebron choked by going for the RARE game-winner (a 6'2" guy hitting an assisted shot in traffic) instead of the common game-winner of a guy pulling up from mid-range .. It was just Lebron being dumb and scared as always - that's why he has so many catastrophies like this series, or 10' ECSF, 24' 1st Round, 25' 1st Round and tons more where he snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
And he employs a high PPG/RPG/APG style, which is a stat-padding style that never won with "normal" rosters of 1 franchise player... Such a horrific brand of ball needs 2 franchise players to play 2nd and 3rd option, or it can't win, and will still barely win.. Lebron doesn't have any real rings with a full season or without teammate bailiout.

Very well might have been. It was his offensive peak for sure and he didn’t start dealing with the nagging injuries until the next year.

Some people forget that LeBron was basically an iron man from ages 18-33.
I would occasionally see him roll up an ankle in an ugly way and think to myself he might be out for a week or two, then 5 minutes later he would come back in the game showing no signs of injury. :lol
Lebron was lottery in 2019 with Ingram, Caruso, Zubacs, Kuzma, KCP, Hart, Rondo and more - MJ would have a dynasty with this, yet Lebron was lottery and needed AD to save him.. It's pathetic..
Then he was lottery again in 2022 despite having AD and all the best veterans in the league - the catastrophie with Westbrook confirms LOW IQ, since Lebron was the worst fit of Westbrook's career - it was like 2 dummies teaming up and we saw the result (worst team itl)...
Then the embarrassing sweep losses to the Nuggets and Twolves... Catastrophic loss every year - LeFraud
Granted, in the 2018 post season, LeShrivel did have fewer choke jobs than what was normal for him.
Game 1 against Indiana. 24 points on 41% shooting. 0% from three. LOSS.
Game 1 against Boston. 15 points on 31% shooting. LOSS.
He did do pretty well in the finals, although Curry put a beating on him.
Not surprising. My favorite version of him was 2013. Complete player.
While there's no one else who could carry that kind of roster to the finals, let's not act like the disparity between him and the second best player in the team during that season wasn't that big in helping him thrive on getting a chunk of those stats.
Honestly LeGOAT kinda has a Forever Peak.
It was probably he mental peak, which is why he is saying that year.
There is an argument that he was even better in 2017, but he still had Kyrie with him. Getting back to the 2018 finals with no Kyrie was tougher mentally.
Considering the mileage on his resume' ... it's insane that an argument can be made that he was still in his prime during his 15th season.
It took Jordan 19yrs to play 15 seasons :oldlol:
It's not a coincidence that his incredibly streaky mid-range shot was falling during his arguably two best playoff runs (2009, 2018). That in-between game was always questionable and was what limited his shot creation & shot making against certain high-level defenses and specific individual matchups, schemes, and coverages.

It also took Jordan 13 seasons to win 6 rings. In 23 years, LeBron has just 4.

He needed a rest and quit the league. His first 3 are legit but the next 3 have a big asterisk *
