In the last 50 years?
Last 10 years contain:
Shaquille O'Neal
Hakeem Olajuwon
David Robinson
Patrick Ewing
Dikembe Mutumbo
Karl Malone
Shawn Kemp
Kevin Garnett
Alonzo Mourning
Chris Webber
Dirk Nowitzki
I would rank Shaq and Hakeem over Tim Duncan from that period.
In the last 50:
1. Wilt Chamberlain
2. Shaquille O'Neal
3. Hakeem Olajuwon
4. Bill Russell
5. Tim Duncan
(That's actually a top 5 alltime)

No Kareem.
In terms of Power Fowards, I think he's top 5 all time.
1. Karl Malone
2. Tim Duncan
3. Charles Barkley
4. Kevin McHale
5a. Kevin Garnett
5b. Bob Pettit
5c. Dennis Rodman
Last 10 years, take your pick between Duncan, Shaq and Hakeem.
For me personally, I'd go with
Shaq
Duncan
Hakkem
Karl Malone
Last 50 years?
Russell
Karreem
Shaq
Wilt
Duncan
Duncan is one of the all time greats. Has a complete mastery of the game. The perfect superstar in that he is very unselfish and willing to play a team game to win championships. Isn't all about his numbers and ego. I really don't think Duncan gets enough respect because he is "boring". Which I think is crap.
Guys like David Robinson, Patrick Ewing and Charles Barkley seem to get every excuse in the world for being chokers and underachievers. Some have the nerve to call these guys all timers. Listen these three were very good players, even hall of famers. But they are a notch below Duncan's level. They didn't excel enough at every facet of the game like Duncan. They didn't step up in the big games. Who cares about Jordan, if you want to be considered an all timer, you step you game up when it counts, and these three didn't do enough of that.
As for Karl Malone, he is certainly an all timer for his longevity and scoring prowess. But he is always a notch below Duncan and Kevin McHale because of this choking in the most important games. It wasn't Jordan's fault that he blew those free throws. Or that he disappeared in virtually every Finals game. Or that he threw away the ball. Malone was great, but not great enough.
Theres no big man who is definitively better than him. I'd take him over Hakeem and Shaq.
No Kareem.
Whoops.
1. Wilt Chamberlain
2. Shaquille O'Neal
3. Kareem Abdul Jabbar
4. Hakeem Olajuwon
5. Bill Russell
6. Tim Duncan
D-Rob is getting pretty under rated here. This man was unstoppable before he got injured.
D-Rob got murder my Hakeem, that's why he'll never be in a top 5 discussion.
D-Rob is getting pretty under rated here. This man was unstoppable before he got injured.
Eh, a lot of guys who came through the league could score.
Robinson was soft and one dimensional. Not versatile enough to be an all time great.
1. Kareem
2. Shaq
3. Wilt
4. Russel
5. Duncan
All-time.
I'm not going to answer this since Tim Duncan is my favourite player and I'm obviously biased towards him.
I just wanted to say that it's pointless to compare the NBA now with what it was 50 or even 30 years ago, since the game changed SOO much, from the athleticism of the players, to the phisicality and skill of the game, to the game strategies used...You can still however rate them compared to their importance to the game at that certain time, but since the overall number of players in the world and the quality of their game is increasing, I think the guys today are the creme de creme...
tim duncan is leagues above guys like ewing and robinson. ewing was a mild rebounder and robinson was soft and got schooled by the dream when he won MVP and was in his prime, even 22 years old shaq put much more of a fight than robinson did.
duncan surpassed malone in my GPFOAT (greatest PF) a long time ago because he doesnt choke in the finals like malone, he plays better defense (no, elbowing other players and putting them to sleep like malone did isnt good defense, it is just dirty defense) and duncan is a 3-time NBA champion and finals MVP only in 9 season.
duncan should be ranked right up there with shaq, wilt, kareem, malone and all the elite big men in NBA history.
Robinson was soft and one dimensional. Not versatile enough to be an all time great.
wow, are you calling the same guy who recorded a quaruple double one dimensional? how is that not versatile?
come on... KG's better than TD... why do you think he won so many season MVP awards???
come on... KG's better than TD... why do you think he won so many season MVP awards???
Mamm your right!!
kg > td...but both are phenomenal at their position...and duncan's gone a lot farther than KG has so I might have to switch that.. kg = td?
I dont know how you can think KG is better, Duncan has more MVP's more rings and is just better. He steps up in big games when his team needs him, Kevin seems to hide in those moments.
cant exactly compare him to bill and wilt, but i thought he was better than karl or any other PF of recent times.

duncan also has had WAY better teams than KG.
Tim would have gotten the wolves in the playoffs if he were in kevins position.
duncan also has had WAY better teams than KG.
could it also be because duncan MADE those teams better? :confusedshrug:
come on... KG's better than TD... why do you think he won so many season MVP awards???
Oh Yeah that's right Kg won 1 Season MVP to Duncan's 2 regular season MVPs and 3 Finals MVPs...
And to those posters that say D-Rob was one dimensional...you're on crack he played both ends of the floor...but I'll agree he lacked the fire (was soft)...
I would say
PF
1. Duncan
2. Malone
3. McHale
4. Garnett
Best Bigs
1. Wilt/Russel
2. Hakeem
3. Kareem
4. Shaq
5. Duncan
could it also be because duncan MADE those teams better? :confusedshrug:
better than Garnett would? Nope. Did Duncan get a championship everytime he had a good team? Nope. Would Garnett make the Spurs team better too? Of course. Did Garnett have a good team as often as Duncan has? Nope. It's the orginizations fault Garnett doesn't have a ring by now. It will be close games with the Wolves and Spurs next year. Garnett killed him last year.
Thats ridiculous, Duncan didnt get killed, plus he had plantar facititus or how ever you spell it. PF makes every step you take painful its horrible i've had it, I have so much respect for Tim playing through it and doing as well as he did.
Dont even compare kevin to him cos kevin is not in tims league. Only if you bring stats into it does kevin come close, and there is more to basketball then stats.
D-Rob got murder my Hakeem, that's why he'll never be in a top 5 discussion.
Thats a flawed argument there, regular season drob pwned him or they were evenly match, drob was soft in the playoffs.
Then again you got alot centers that was pwned in that 2 year rocket championship runs, ewing was toyed in the finals, shaq was schooled in the finals, now how come they dont get a knock?
better than Garnett would? Nope. Did Duncan get a championship everytime he had a good team? Nope. Would Garnett make the Spurs team better too? Of course. This is the only excuse i hate hearing from KG fans, just accept the truth that your team is crap and the franchise player who is eating half the teams payroll. There is no one to blame besides everyone related to the organization as a whole. The IF , COULDVE, WOULDVE, REPLACE excuse is lame. Thats just like saying replace jordan on the bulls with drexler and he wouldve had rings....if you wannabe a champion, you gotto earn it, no one is going to hand them out to you.
Now look at the players who played with Garnett and move on:
marbury went on to be best pg in the league (sarcasm)
billups, yeh thats right he bounce around the league but found his game in detroit, manage to get a ring and finals mvp and one of the top pgs in the league,
cassell made brand look like an mvp in 05/06.
rasho went onto the spurs and wasnt involved much on offense but he accepted his role and manage to win a championship. He didnt resign with the wolves who gave him a good offer.
Now ask yourselves kgfans, whose ****n fault is it? Every year when td vs KG thread comes up, its always the same excuse.
Hakeem got away with tons of travelings
duncan was the bomb, now he's just a role player and a washed up vet.
:wtf: :wtf:
hes one of the best, but boring as hell !
i'd rank him 6th behind wilt, russell, kareem, olajuwon and shaq

i dont get it...did you just prove a point that it's the organization's fault they traded all these high class players?btw kg takes up under 1/3 of the payroll im not really following here
k.g. has eaten about 40 percent of the salary cap. its around 56 mil and k.g. makes about 21 mil a season. he wants to lose.
better than Garnett would? Nope. Did Duncan get a championship everytime he had a good team? Nope. Would Garnett make the Spurs team better too? Of course. Garnett had teams good enough to go all the way once. And his fingers sport no rings. Duncan is the reason the Spurs are championship status. In 1998 the Spurs went under 30 wins (I think 25 or something like that) then with the first pick they take Duncan in the 99 draft. That was the lockout year so the Spurs went I think 34-13 and won an NBA championship. Why didn't he win in 2000, 2001, or 2002? Because the only player better than him in this era was dominating, and that's Shaq. So...
PF
1. Tim Duncan
2. Karl Malone
3. Kevin Garnett
Big Men
1. Wilt the Stilt
2. Shaq
3. Russel
4. KAJ
5. Duncan/Hakeem (but this could just be biased)

As noted by skilled world wide web UGG Kids Classic Tall boot analysts Heather Hopkins and Bill Tancer from Hitwise, last year's northern hemisphere Xmas period of time searches for 'ugg boots' on the main lookup engines were up more than 6-fold. So, as these analysts request, what presents?
As mentioned by Hitwise and other folks, sheepskin ugg Infant UGG Boots boots have absolutely grow to be much more well-known in seasonal winter periods. Mix a notably cold UGG Snow Boots northern winter season with a Xmas UGG classic short boots for kids browsing frenzy UGG Knit Boots on sale and you have a positive-fire runaway ugg UGG Kids Classic Short Boots boots period.
On the other hand, this sort of Leather UGG Boots a dramatic improve in ugg discount Women's UGG Casual Shoes boots attractiveness from 1 winter season UGG mens boots on sale to the subsequent must necessarily mean a lot more than just an unusually cold winter season. Commentators Mens Ugg Boots have mentioned the following variables that seem to be contributing to the enormous increase in desire UGG Mens Classic Boots on Sale for sheepskin discount UGG boots for women ugg boots:
