NBA Live 08 ratings
The Top 20s
Centers
1. Tim Duncan: 91
2. Amare Stoudemire: 88
3. Shaquille O'Neal: 87
4. Yao Ming: 86
5. Ben Wallace: 78
6. Brad Miller: 76
7. Zydrunas Ilgauskas: 75
8. Marcus Camby: 75
9. Greg Oden: 75
10. Tyson Chandler: 75
11. Andrew Bogut: 75
12. Chris Kaman: 73
13. Nene: 73
14. Eddy Curry: 73
15. Alonzo Mourning: 73
16. Jamaal Magloire: 72
17. Andris Biedrins: 72
18. Mehmet Okur: 72
19. Samuel Dalembert: 72
20. Kurt Thomas: 71
Overrated/underrated: Duncan's skills might not be the flashy, in-your-face kind you want to highlight in a videogame, but damn, only a 91 for a man who just led his team to another title and is one of the best players of his generation? Another crazy number that jumps out at me is Biedrins and his 72 overall. I know he's still got a lot of work to do, but to say he's the same as Jamaal Magloire and only 1 point higher than Kurt Thomas is like a slap in the face to everything good that has ever come out of Latvia (Sandis Ozolins and Soviet protest songs rule!).
Power Forwards
1. Kevin Garnett: 92
2. Dirk Nowitzki: 90
3. Elton Brand: 89
4. Shawn Marion: 88
5. Chris Bosh: 86
6. Jermaine O'Neal: 85
7. Pau Gasol: 85
8. Dwight Howard: 85
9. Rasheed Wallace: 84
10. Lamar Odom: 83
11. Carlos Boozer: 81
12. Antawn Jamison: 80
13. Emeka Okafor: 79
14. Zach Randolph: 78
15. Al Jefferson: 77
16. Charlie Villanueva: 76
17. Kenyon Martin: 76
18. Al Harrington: 75
19. Channing Frye: 75
20. Shareef Abdur-Rahim: 75
Overrated/underrated: How is Carlos Boozer the 11th best power forward in the NBA? Dude is an absolute beast down in the paint. Dirk at 90 must be feeling the sting of choking in the playoffs. Regular season Dirk is more like a 95.
Small Forwards
1. LeBron James: 96
2. Paul Pierce: 89
3. Carmelo Anthony: 86
4. Josh Howard: 85
5. Rashard Lewis: 84
6. Ron Artest: 84
7. Andre Iguodala: 84
8. Richard Jefferson: 82
9. Andrei Kirilenko: 82
10. Luol Deng: 80
11. Tayshaun Prince: 79
12. Gerald Wallace: 79
13. Ricky Davis: 79
14. Corey Maggette: 79
15. Josh Smith: 78
16. Kevin Durant: 78
17. Boris Diaw: 76
18. Andres Nocioni: 76
19. Peja Stojakovic: 76
20. Danny Granger: 76
Overrated/underrated: Scary thought to the rest of the league: Lebron is still getting better. I don't know how Ricky Davis deserves the same ranking as Prince, Wallace, and Maggette, not to mention a higher number than Durant and Josh Smith. Does Ricky have a cousin working on the game?
Shooting Guards
1. Kobe Bryant: 96
2. Dwyane Wade: 93
3. Tracy McGrady: 92
4. Vince Carter: 88
5. Ray Allen: 87
6. Manu Ginobili: 86
7. Jason Richardson: 85
8. Jason Terry: 85
9. Michael Redd: 85
10. Joe Johnson: 84
11. Rip Hamilton: 82
12. Ben Gordon: 80
13. Larry Hughes: 80
14. Caron Butler: 78
15. Steve Francis: 77
16. Leandro Barbosa: 77
17. Jerry Stackhouse: 76
18. Randy Foye: 76
19. Jamal Crawford: 75
20. Raja Bell: 75
Overrated/underrated: Joe Johnson should feel a bit slighted with his 84, and if you watched any basketball last year and feel that Larry Hughes should have a better rating than Barbosa or Randy Foye, you deserve to get smacked in the head by Rafer Alston.
Point Guards
1. Gilbert Arenas: 91
2. Steve Nash: 91
3. Allen Iverson: 91
4. Baron Davis: 88
5. Tony Parker: 87
6. Chris Paul: 87
7. Chauncey Billups: 86
8. Jason Kidd: 85
9. Deron Williams: 83
10. Mike Bibby: 83
11. Stephon Marbury: 83
12. Kirk Hinrich: 83
13. Jameer Nelson: 79
14. Devin Harris: 79
15. Raymond Felton: 77
16. Andre Miller: 77
17. Mike James: 76
18. TJ Ford: 76
19. Michael Conley: 75
20. Damon Stoudamire: 74
Overrated/underrated: When Gilbert signed to be on the cover, I guess he made sure to add the clause where he was the highest rated player at his position. Cover or not, putting him in the same class as Nash is a bit much. I also don't think Chris Paul deserves to be 4 points ahead of Deron Williams at this point. After watching Williams in the playoffs, I might even give him the nod over CP3 heading into the season.
While we're at it, let's look at EA's ranking for every team heading into the season.
1. Mavericks: 87
2. Suns: 87
3. Rockets: 84
4. Spurs: 83
5. Pistons: 82
6. Nets: 82
7. Nuggets: 81
8. Bulls: 80
9. Heat: 80
10. Celtics: 80
11. Cavaliers: 77
12. Lakers: 77
13. Clippers: 77
14. Kings: 77
15. Jazz: 76
16. Bobcats: 76
17. Hawks: 75
18. Knicks: 75
19. Warriors: 74
20. Wizards: 72
21. Hornets: 72
22. Bucks: 72
23. Timberwolves: 71
24. Blazers: 70
25. 76ers: 70
26. Grizzlies: 70
27. Sonics: 69
28. Raptors: 69
29. Magic: 69
30. Pacers: 6
holy hell.
how is hughes even top 20 hahah
wow at tronto being one of the worst teams.

Typical Live - bad.
30. Pacers: 6
Please tell me that's a typo.
-
Re: NBA Live 08 ratings
The only thing I see wrong is Arenas, Nash, and Iverson all being tied, and putting Larry Huges over Caron Butler.
As for the team rankings....those look a bit off. Raptors at 69 is a bit low, and the Heat should not be 80.
-
Re: NBA Live 08 ratings
God, I was just praying that NBA 08 would do something good, but this is just terrible. Not a single team over 90, not even the champions, and Josh smith at 78 is just plain stupid. Stoudemire and Yao under 90 is also horrible, and the DPOY is a terrible 76. Okafor, Randolph and Jefferson all under 80? UGH! Even though I love Francis, how's he still better than Jamal Crawford and Leandro Barbosa? God, I predict unrealistic scores and absolutely insane numbers.

Re: NBA Live 08 ratings
these team rankings are a little off..how is toronto so low.
The Raptors players aren't amazing. Low player rankings will lead to a low team ranking.
-

McGrady > Duncan and = Garnett? Wow.
-
Re: NBA Live 08 ratings
The Raptors players aren't amazing. Low player rankings will lead to a low team ranking.
Thats why a teamwork/chemistry ranking should be a big part in the game, the reason the raptors do so great on offense is because of their team chemistry and the way they move the ball, there should be a ranking for that.
-

Agree, Bosh and TJ are the only ones who would crack 80's in Live. Too many Euros I guess.

Re: NBA Live 08 ratings
bogut, kaman, and miller over eddy curry is bogus, and how is brad miller the 6th best center in the NBA?
steve francis and randy foye over jamal crawford is also stupid.. and how is al harrington only equal to shareef and channing frye? there are so many problems im not even going to continue.
-
Re: NBA Live 08 ratings

Re: NBA Live 08 ratings
I think they completley undershot some of the newer players and rookies. Bad calls all around.

TJ at the same level as Mike James?
Boozer so low?
T-wolves higher than the Raps?
Nets ahead of Denver, Jazz, Bulls, Celtics?
Yup just Live being Live.

Re: NBA Live 08 ratings
goddamnit people. Overall rankings are useless. This is why Madden is so much better than Live. Because in Madden, you're ranked high if you're good at your position. In NBA Live, you're ranked high if you're an overall good player.
One dimensional players will not be getting love. Aka, players like Kevin Martin, Leandro Barbosa, TJ Ford, Carlos Boozer, Melo, Okafor, Camby, Crawford...
Some players might be overrated but you have to look at the whole picture. Larry Hughes is a talented scorer, very athletic, good rebounder for a guard, average passer, and a decent stealer. Don't forget about his 22p/6rb/5as/3stl season he had 2 years ago. Even last year 15/4/4 is respectable.

PSH gtfo now, just go!
His 15 4 and 4 if it is even that high is on 40% shooting. As the 2nd almost 3rd option.

Okay seriously people. There is no need to say "EA screwed this up" "they did this, they did that" "* > *". Seriously, shut up. They're just numbers! I mean really, how do overall team rankings screw up an entire game? None of you should be making any judgement, at least not until the full game, or demo is released.

Jason Kidd is underrated when you consider the players that have better ratings than him.

Re: NBA Live 08 ratings
 thats a new one...VC better than Melo?
He is he is a more efficient scorer, a less selfish player, a superior passer, he averages just as many rebounds despite being a guard and he is a better defender. Carmelo has never gotten out of the 1st round either. Vince also doesn't have a gay nickname like Melo.
-
Re: NBA Live 08 ratings
Biedrins and Curry have pretty low ratings. I'm surprised the Knick's and Raptors are both below the Hawks/Bobcats, but NBA Live always has a pretty bad rating system. I probably won't be buying Live anyway unless they drastically turn things around.
-
Re: NBA Live 08 ratings
Jason Kidd is underrated when you consider the players that have better ratings than him.
I agree. How often do 6'3" point guards average 8.2 rpg or a triple double in 12 playoff games.
-
Re: NBA Live 08 ratings
He is he is a more efficient scorer,
Vince averaged 25.2 ppg on 45% shooting
Melo averaged 28.9 ppg on 48% shooting
a less selfish player,
Vince shot 1598 times
Melo shot 1453 times
a superior passer,
Vince averaged 4.8
Melo averaged 3.8
Carmelo has never gotten out of the 1st round either
he has also only been in the league 4 years
Vince also doesn't have a gay nickname like Melo.
Good reason as to why vince is a better player:rollingeyes:
-
Re: NBA Live 08 ratings
And another thing...on that NJ team (one last year with Kristic out), Melo would average around 8 reb/gm. He is that good at rebounding. Denver has excellent rebounders who take care of that though...Camby, Nene, Najera, Evans. Melo averages about 2 offensive boards a game as well.
And speaking of nicknames...I prefer Melo over Wince.

Vince averages more points per shot. That is more efficient. The reaso he took more shots is ebcause Crymelo was suspended 15 games..ever think about that?
