Durant. Lebron needs more rings before he deserves a 4th MVP award.
They didn't give MJ the MVP award every year, even though he probably deserved it over everyone else.
I would say Durant is the front runner for MVP simply because Lebron has won 3 already and they are playing at very similar levels.
If Lebron hadn't won any MVP's it would be him, but I feel like voters would give it to Durant over Lebron this season simply for variety.
Lebron would need to beat the Knicks, Pacers and Bulls the rest of the way to make it convincing for him all the while securing the top spot in the east.
Durant needs to beat the Spurs for the top record in the west which isnt very easy to do since they always hover around the top record every year.
LeBron will win it, unless OKC goes on a serious tear in the second half.
Lebron is the best player in basketball, he's the defending champ, and he's always been popular in the media. To the point that they wanna give it to him all the time, without even watching the games. There aren't other personalities the way there were in Jordan's years...Kobe is a personality, but he's not in the discussion right now.
With all that said, Durant is the most deserving right now. His team also has a better record, in a much tougher conference. They're doing it after getting rid of a legit all-star in Harden, who is playing like an MVP, himself, now in Houston. Rose is out and the Bulls are still doing very well and the thinking is that Rose being on the team would make them even better. Miami is not that far ahead, despite supposedly being so much better. This will all help Durant. If things stay like this, I think he'll win.
I think Chris Paul should get some attention. LAC is nothing without him, and a .700 team with him. And this has been proven. That hasn't been proven with Durant yet.
No disrespect to Durant, but if LeBron keeps up this level of play anddoesn't win it this year than it will be a travesty. He deserves it much more this year than last IMO. He's having an unbelievable season.
26.7, 8 & 7 on 55% shooting.
Please.
MVP: Give it to him.
lol another thread for stans to put MJ and LeBron in the same sentence.
OKC hasnt really been playing well as of late. Right now? I say LeBron is the front runner. I have KD winning it at the end of the season though.
Tony Parker.
Averaging 23/8/3/1 on 59% over the last month while leading the Spurs to the best record in the NBA without Duncan or Ginobili.
MVP isn't a best-player award. I'm not sure why everyone assumes it's Durant or LeBron, and nobody else has a chance.

Because that's the reality of the situation.

Were people saying the same thing when Nash won 2 MVP's? or Dirk? or Rose?
None of those guys were considered the best players in the NBA.
Right now...I'd say Lebron is the front runner after a pretty nice stretch. It's still really early and this is fluid. There's so much time left in season Chris Paul could even come back into the picture. How they've played without him has only helped his case.

Instead of going to past years, how about you list some other reasonable candidates. Its LeBron or Durant, Ill bet whatever you want.
