Re: Valunciunas and Casey
He is a bad coach and maybe plays favourites(?) Thats all I can really say, he makes the biggest head scratching decisions I've ever seen from an NBA head coach.
It must get tiring for amir and val to crash the glass with all the chuckers on this team.
Re: Valunciunas and Casey
His job is on the line so he doesn't trust a 2nd year player.

Not true, since Ross was playing late into the 4th quarter against the Heat.
I'm starting to believe that Casey has something against Big V.

Exactly.
I blame the management and ownership for bringing Casey back and not having any sort of long-term plan for this franchise right now. Did they really expect Casey, on the last year of his contract, to care about the long-term development of players?

Hard to buy that. He can't possibly think gay/fields at the 4 is better than having a talented center out on the floor with amir at the 4. I mean if there is a mismatch out there and raps are taking advantage of it, he for some reason plays to the opponents strength and goes small.
Seen that countless times this season, with the first game against miami being the prime example.
Re: Valunciunas and Casey
I want to assume that Val is blowing defensive plays/not rotating or helping quick enough. That or Casey can sense when Val is tired :confusedshrug:
Not trying to defend Casey at all but we don't have access to game film or strategy so I really don't want to think that he's just being a dumbass for no reason

Yet ironically this will end up being what gets him fired. :lol

I am hoping management brought him back as a lame duck to help the tank.

Even if management wanted to tank, Casey wouldn't unless he had a new contract. He's not a good coach but he will do everything he can to win. He won't care about the development of players beyond this year.
Management should be bringing in a coach that will understand what the plan of the franchise is and go along with it. Assuming there even is a plan.

Great post.

I think we know the "season plan". Make the playoffs to generate excitement, build crowds an coffers; then make tons of money from hosting the all star game next year. Its all about making money for 2 years to offset the cap busting contracts we have.
The plan - assuming there is one - is to "evaluate the talent and direction"
:wtf:

according to him, raps are going into tank mode. i hope it's true...
Re: Valunciunas and Casey
I wonder if that Gay for Stuckey/Charlie V rumour had any truth to it. I'd be all over dumping Gay for expiring contracts at this point. I don't see how the Raptors can trade him for anything better.
