Who do you want the Bobcats to draft?

What position do the 'Cats need an upgrade in the most and who do you want them to draft? I've seen some mock drafts and many have the "Cats picking Jonas Valaciunas. Hopefully the front office gets it right this year and we get out of mediocrity.

I still like Alec Burks at #9.

Re: Who do you want the Bobcats to draft?

Here's Bonnell's take on the workouts today:

Quote:

Brooks has modeled his game after Atlanta Hawks guard Jamal Crawford, and it shows. Same kind of shifty moves to the left and right, to set up defenders. He'll be effective creating his own shot at the next level.

Brooks describes himself as a scorer, not a shooter. To be productive with that approach at the NBA level, you have to be expert at forcing defenders to commit shooting fouls.

-- Burks seemed strangely nervous when we interviewed him. That surprised me, in that if you're a star in the Big 12, and you've lived in a major media market (Boulder is just outside Denver), you should be experienced and comfortable fielding media questions.

-- I think Brooks is definitely among the players who have impressed the Bobcats. I think Florida State's Chris Singleton and Southern California big man Nikola Vucevic have also caught their fancy.

I'm certainly not suggesting those are the only three players they like. But in this draft, where it's so challenging to predict an order, might it make sense to go ahead and pick Singleton ninth and Brooks or Vucevic 19th? Those might be "reaches'' according to some draft pundit, but in a murky draft, why not trust your own instincts?

What position do the Bobcats need an upgrade in the most? Every position. Who were our last first round picks? Augustin, Ajinca, Morrison, Henderson?

It would be nice if we could draw lucky and get someone with any resemblance to a 1st or 2nd option for once.

Re: Who do you want the Bobcats to draft?

Well Bonnell seems to think we're gonna pick Singleton at 9. I'm okay with that.

Re: Who do you want the Bobcats to draft?

This means Singleton will go at #10

Not really...he seems like he'd be another Gerald Wallace.

Pre draft deal for anyone who missed it:

Official Deal:
Bucks: Stephen Jackson, Beno Udrih, Shaun Livingston, #19 Overall Pick
Kings: Jonny Salmons, #10 Overall Pick
Bobcats: Corey Maggette, #7 Overall Pick

Certainly shakes things up a bit. We're not going to recognize the Cats next season.

So we got Bismack Biyombo and Kemba Walker. Hopefully this duo works.
LETS GO CATS

Re: Who do you want the Bobcats to draft?

I assume more deals are in the works. As it stands now we will be one of the best defensive teams in the league and one of the worst at actually scoring points. btw, I ran into Bismack Biyombo in the airport today.

Re: Who do you want the Bobcats to draft?

I don't like this deal at all. Here's to hoping I'm wrong, but this is what I see...

We just traded our best player, as much of a liability as he was, for another Desagana Diop. That's what Biyombo strikes me as. Another Diop.

That being said, I like the drafting of Walker. I like his game and I feel like he'll be another Raymond Felton, but smarter. It also gives us a solid backup for DJ now that Livingston is gone.

The real thing I don't like is that we acquired Magette, who hasn't been relevant since his Clipper days, and even then he wasn't that great. But like I said, I hope I'm wrong and I hope he's solid. But we are DEFINITELY not making the playoffs next year.

Nice duo. I think the Bobcats win this draft. Sacramento came out really nicely tonight as well.

Would have liked to see some movement from my Suns, but it is what it is. And my Raptors getting another Euro? :oldlol:

Anyways, Magette wasn't the best thing about tonight, although you can't deny Kemba and Biyombo combo. Rivalling another nice duo that came out from tonight(Irving and Thompson).

So yes, all in all, Charlotte wins baby.

i was pretty surprised the suns took markief over marcus. still a good pick though, he'll develop well with nash helping him out. what do you think about picking markief over marcus?

Re: Who do you want the Bobcats to draft?

I don't know man. I haven't heard much of either, but I thought we were going to get Marcus.

I just hope Markief is better. I like his trailer 3 that they showed, if he can hit that consistenly it'll be good for working with Nash.

Still mad we got Brooks, haha. Dragic was developing so nicely here.

yeah i really liked dragic. i don't think i'll ever forget that game where he went off for like 23 points against the spurs in game 3. i was watching it with my friend who's a huge suns fan and we were just going crazy that night. it would have been nice to see him develop some more under nash.

Maniak 06-24-2011 02:26 AM

Re: Who do you want the Bobcats to draft?

Yeah Nash was an ideal mentor for his playstyle. Brooks is garbage in my eyes and doesn't pass first enough to be the point guard the Suns system needs.

I was hoping kemba would slip to us...so close...yet so far...

Charlotte keeping that defensive minded playstyle next year im assuming? or what am i expected as I obviously will be tuning in to some.

Re: Who do you want the Bobcats to draft?

Damn, I'm definitely not sold on the Biyombo pick.

Biyombo only has about half a season of legitimate basketball experience, averaging 6 points 3 boards a game in the ACB. There is just nothing telling me Biyombo isn't the next Saer Sene.

according to draftexpress he put up 6 points and 5 boards per game, but you have to take into consideration that he only played 17 minutes per game. he also recorded 2.7 blocks per game. 2.7 blocks in 17 minutes is pretty incredible. adjust it to the higher NBA pace and far more minutes (probably around 28-30) and he could realistically put up something like 8/10/3 or so in his rookie year. i'll take that and he'll only get better

Get sold on Biyombo. I think he'll be someone in the NBA.

I'll try to catch some Charlotte games next year, depending on how much I like their pace, or if there is any games next year.

You are mostly right, I checked his stats and it's 6ppg 5rpg 2,3bpg. Solid numbers, but it's a 14 game sample size.

He'd be the first of these super raw, hyper athletic African C's picked in the lottery to live up in any way to his supposed potential.
