Has there ever been a starting lineup as flawlessly built as the current lakers?
Dangerous outside shooting with best shooting point guard in the history of the nba and most unstoppable midrange shooter the game has ever seen, combined with gasol improved 3 point game and pure midrange and MWPs hotstreaks.
Dominant inside game with the most dynamic front court in the nba when motivated. Best offensive centre in the nba in bynum and top 5 pf in gasol when he tries and the strongest post up 3 in MWP.
Lockdown perimeter defense with perennial all first team defender kobe, one of the best charge takers in the league in nash and the only player with maybe the exception of melo that lebron wouldnt be able to beat on brute strength.
Best rim protection in the league with the huge wingspans of teh twin towers, not a single easy layup will be give against this starting line up.
I expect this laker starting lineup to outscore the opposing team sans maybe okc and the heat by double digits in the first quarter of every game, if the lakers can get the bench to even a mediocore status, i think anyone in their right mind would have them as the favorites for the nba championship, even against the improved heat.

There's nothing flawless about their starting lineup. Spacing is meh. And the Lakers suck at defending screen and roll.

if only bynum can learn pnr

i lost it at lockdown perimeter defenders :oldlol:

Re: Has there ever been a starting lineup as flawlessly built as the current lakers?
I still think OKC is the better team. Russy is going to destroy Nash every single time. If they put Kobe on him, good luck defending Harden then. Durant is going to get his against anyone.. They have a great post defender in Perk to put on Bynum and Ibaka can guard Pau alright I guess.

Another year of growth and maturity for OKC will do wonders for them. I see them winning the West again.
I don't see how Nash and Kobe are going to "click" as well as everyone thinks either. It's going to be interesting to see.

So, in all but 5 or 6 games, you think the Lakers starting lineup will be at least +10 in EVERY first quarter this year? What the hell are you smoking?

Re: Has there ever been a starting lineup as flawlessly built as the current lakers?
They're extremely weak in the PnR game and in transition.. and OKC and Miami are two teams that dominate in those areas.

That too. And like I said, no frontcourt scorer. That's a very good starting five, especially defensively, but it's not flawless.

Re: Has there ever been a starting lineup as flawlessly built as the current lakers?
This is the same exact team that lost two years straight in the playoffs to Dallas and okc. Oh wait, you just added one player named Nash and your ready to throw the title flawless infront of them.:facepalm
No legitemate 3-point threat
The three point line was shortened in those years, so under those rules, Jordan actually shot the three pretty well and would suffice. With a normal line, you are correct... no legit 3 point threat.

Re: Has there ever been a starting lineup as flawlessly built as the current lakers?
The 12-13 Nets certainly have a case when they get Dwight.
Deron
Johnson
Crash
???
Dwight
if they can get a shooter at the 4 then they are in incredible shape.

Re: Has there ever been a starting lineup as flawlessly built as the current lakers?
Flaws:
Steve Nash can't play defense.
MWP is a ticking time bomb.
Andrew Bynum is the same, never know when he makes a dumb play.
Gasol is soft.
There's only one ball.

They just got Mirza Teletovic. He is the best player in europe and plays the stretch four. His 3 point shooting is great. He will be getting open shots all day with Dwight and deron.
-
Re: Has there ever been a starting lineup as flawlessly built as the current lakers?
There old. There is no flawless lineup. I know Net fans will be salivating (i think they would be a title contender with Dwight) but JJ is old and had injury problems, Deron has had injury issues, and Dwight has an issue with his back that at some point in his career will be a problem. It's not a if, it's a how bad. Plus their 4 could be great, could be crap. Look at other Euro's who come over.
MIami is small and they won the title.
BUt the Lakers, no that team is far far from perfect. Nash and Kobe are old, Metta is old, Gasol is old and loses focus at times, and Bynum is a moody douchebag.

Re: Has there ever been a starting lineup as flawlessly built as the current lakers?
A flawlessly constructed team where MWP is the starting SF?
I love MWP, but he's become a bit of a liability recently.

These are the main weaknesses and the main reasons how the Lakers will likely lose.

Did you forget his play at the end of the season when he was back in shape? He looked noting like a liability.
The most flawless starting lineup is the current Miami Heat once they acquire Marcus Camby, Courtney Lee and of course Jordan Hill.
Chalmers | Cole
Wade | Allen | Lee
James | Miller | Jones
Bosh | Haslem
Camby | Hill | Pittman

No starting lineup with Metta World Peace can be considered flawless in 2012.
