[B]Alvin Gentry is new Pelicans coach[/B]
The Pelicans officially announced they hired Gentry as head coach late Saturday night. Gentry becomes the sixth head coach in franchise history that dates back to 2002.He also has ties to New Orleans. He was Tim Floyd's top assistant for the then- New Orleans Hornets during the 2003-04 season.
Gentry was reportedly offered a four-year, $13.7 million contract, according to Yahoo sports.
