Re: McHale's wingspan?
Yep, Mchale did have high shoulders, but I doubt Mchale's wingspan is longer than Yao's given that he's at least 7 inches shorter. His wingspan I've heard and I assume is probably 7,3 or 7,4" and standing reach (w/ shoes) probably 9,3" or 9,4" I suppose.
Maxiel at 6'5 has 7'4 reach...It would not be surprising if Mchale had good deal more than that.

Re: McHale's wingspan?
Just wondering. What was McHale's vertical? Did he jump high or not?
Herman Munster could almost scratch his knees without bending over.
That would be a sight to behold. :lol

"I think wingspan is every bit as important, maybe way more important than your height," said Minnesota Vice President of Basketball Operations Kevin McHale, who had an 8-foot wingspan in his day. "You've seen those guys that are 6-11, and they've got those pterodactyl arms. Those guys, they don't do too well."

Re: McHale's wingspan?
That seems insane. An 8 foot wingspan on a 6'11" guy?

He may be exaggerating with the 8' mark, but damn his hand looks rim level off a jump step in a couple of those pictures. It's hard to tell if that's just the photo perspective....still, he's clearly pushing 7'7 plus.

Re: McHale's wingspan?
I would say that is a slight exaggeration. The only SG/SF's I can think of with that kind of wingspan are Tracy McGrady and T. Prince..
T. Prince: 7'4
T. McGrady: 7'3
Durant's wingspan is longer at about 7-5. I think McGrady's wingspan is 7-2 and Prince's is around the same. Josh Howard I think has a 7-2 wingspan too.

Re: McHale's wingspan?
I wonder what Pau Gasol's wingspan is at? He seems like he barely has to get off the ground for his dunks.
I wonder what Pau Gasol's wingspan is at? He seems like he barely has to get off the ground for his dunks.
I've read about 7,6" at 7 feet. He still obviously has to get off the ground a noticeable amount to dunk unlike the 7,5" Iranian fellow with an 8 foot wingspan we discussed before who can dunk without having to jump off the ground whatsoever! As for Mchale's wingspan I doubt it's over 7,6" but definitely more than 7,2".

Re: McHale's wingspan?
I dunno, but Manute Bol must of had a ridiculous wingspan at his height. Those are some long arse arms.
This is OT, but Bol's brother went to my university (and got cut from the b-ball team)... man that dude was tall. He was the easiest guy to pick out on Campus...

Re: McHale's wingspan?
That is what I have trouble understanding, I am 6'8" with 6'8" wingspan.
Im 7' with 6'9 wingspan!

Re: McHale's wingspan?
Im 7' with 6'9 wingspan!
That's rather unusual. Most ppl I think have a wingspan that's at least their height if not more. I guess you just have really short arms for your height and narrow shoulders (maybe you have the Kevin Willis syndrome going on because I am pretty sure Kevin Willis at 7' also had a wingspan that was probably only 6,9" or 6,10").
