Invented in Pittsburgh by a steel manufacturer after a call out to the country by people of Chicago for the turn of the century World's Fair being held in the windy city.
At the previous World's Fair in Paris they unveiled the Eiffel Tower as their centerpiece, and Chicago presented Ferris's Wheel as a topper. Still today people travel from all over the world to see the Eiffel's tower, while Ferris' Wheel can be found in most church or supermarket parking lots for at least one week each summer all over the US.
