Re: The 5 Best Mix Masters Of You Tube
Thanks for that link, sir. I'm quite familiar with KBlaze, Yinka, and Max, but it was educational to see the mention of the other two. I will likely go subscribe to all later today.

Re: The 5 Best Mix Masters Of You Tube
that yinka dare Tim Duncan mix is one of my all time favorites....but KBlaze is the GOAT. I also love Kblaze's Manu Ginobili (the song is awesome) and the DRob mix...i dont know how he got all those videos from Navy.

Re: The 5 Best Mix Masters Of You Tube
Max does those "Finish to Remember" ones that are really nice. I like coose and his NBA - A New Decade oone.

I have one of those generic "Bloopers & Stars" triple VHS sets that just provides footage of a bunch of pranks, bloopers, and non-NBA footage of NBA stars. So, it's things like the ol' Rick Mahorn's-head-scaring-the-bejeez-out-of-Manute Bol-at-the-buffet-table routine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-LTyDiCu0A), Dennis Scott being trapped inside an elevator with what he believes is a woman in labor, and a bunch of footage like Charles Barkley at Auburn, David Robinson at Navy, and Mark Price at Georgia Tech. It's a nice, cheesy little set, hosted largely by the immortal Jay Johnstone.

Re: The 5 Best Mix Masters Of You Tube

Yep, his most complicated effect is like, the scrolling newspaper head line or reversing the video back a few times to the music for effect on a dunk. I like it lots too.
Then again, Coose's style and mix tape live really make things look so pretty.

Vincent Da is #1 by a lot to me. First time I saw art of war I almost quit making videos.

Nice. Very nice! Maybe I'll add that one to the list. Your shit is still some of my favourite stuff out there though. Where do you get all your material? No one else has it.

Man, this just didn't impress me. I think that Clint Mansell piece has just become too ubiquitous.

Re: The 5 Best Mix Masters Of You Tube
I'll always prefer the KBlaze or Yinka Dare style of mix where I can actually SEE the goddamn highlight a player makes :oldlol:
The A.D.D style of mix where you see half second edits of "dribble - cut - shoot - cut - ball go through the hoop" frustrates the hell out of me because it just robs the player's movements of all of their grace and it brings more attention to the editor than the players themselves.
-

Will always be my favorite mix.
Blaze and Yinka the best for sure though.

Yep, and that's precisely why they're there. Honestly, Coose's mixes might be the best, but watching KBlaze's 'Nique mix I really get a feel for how the guy played and the impact he had on the league. That, and while the epic movie scores are cool, the sweet, sweet hip hop tracks just work with hoops.

Re: The 5 Best Mix Masters Of You Tube
as much as kblaze is great and one of the alltime great posters on this board that list means nothing and was made by a moron
vincent da is the stanley kubrick of nba mix making and he used to be a regular poster on here. anyone even nominating another person is an uninformed moron.

Brilliant mix. My favourite expired pineapples mix is the He got Game mash up with LeBron James.

KBlaze is brilliant, Yinka dare and before he became obsessed with himself Bruce Blitz made some great mixes.

Re: The 5 Best Mix Masters Of You Tube
I am usually the last one to pick up on internet sensations, so I'm surprised there's posters here who have not seen The Art of War. I think there should be a topic made in its regard every month here. My brother watches it before his basketball games all the time. And quite honestly, it makes me want to go out and dunk on someone, hard.

Heh, if you google for "Vincent Da" the first two links about him have KBlaze right next to it. Honestly, his art of war mix is great, but I went to his channel and saw a bunch of paint ball videos. On youtube I saw Art Of War and his Penny mix (which is not nearly as good). Personally, I didn't think Art Of War > New Decade by Coose at all, but maybe he should be on the list.
But yea, that's moronic? ;0 Why so much hate? I asked who was missing, that's the point. Maybe Vincent Da is the best ever, but he's not nearly the most prolific. Why is everyone on ISH so quick to try and show how awesome they are by putting others down?
Is there a mystery VD channel I can't seem to find with google or youtube's search? Cuz yea, I looked.

Yea, I kind of agree. But I love the pureness of KBlaze. They balance out. KBlaze includes moments that truly matter. I dunno, anyone can put 1000 dunk cuts into a mix. There's more to it then that.

U know, it's cool, but it's not the greatest thing ever. I liked it, I'm a mad hoops fan, but it wasn't a religious experience.

I respect that. I can't get enough of it though. I don't know about all that editing stuff, but I just like the pure fury of it all, as it slowly crescendos.
-
Re: The 5 Best Mix Masters Of You Tube
Blaze and Yinka are a joy to watch. Blaze supplements his work here so he stands out. Xfactor and Samuel are cream of the crop as well.

Yea, I think that's partly due to the music selection (which is perfect, what a movie/director Requiem/Aronofsky is). But I get you. I'm gonna add it to the list.

Is everybody familiar with hoopsencyclopedia's Artistry of Michael Jordan series? Some of the stuff doesn't have the greatest quality and you can tell they were old tapes, but, man does he have some rare Jordan footage. And yea, much respect to KBlaze and Yinka, but Coose's videos are crazy.

yeah that is actually my favorite jordan mix of all time. i have both parts downloaded and there is so much rare footage that i haven't seen before, a lot of the popular stuff probably only gets 2-3 min of footage out of the whole 20 minutes.
not to mention kid loco's "traveller" was a unique and sick music choice for artistry of MJ part 1... it gave the video mix a trancelike mesmerizing quality along with MJ's feats of excellence.
