Saturday night Greg Oden injured left knee, needs surgery, season likely over
I've tried to watch as many Blazer games as possible and while power dunks and big blocks aren't usual for Greg Oden, I'm wondering if anyone here thinks he still has this kind of athleticism.

He's now in better shape than he was in last year and he should just about be recovered from the microfracture surgery. So has he lost any athleticism?
At 1:06 and particularly 1:21 he seems explosive here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZuaIPOAlbk Also at 1:13 here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJEaTPuzVJw
In general he doesn't seem to have as many highlight plays as he did in college, but I suspect part of that is him conserving energy and being careful because of his injury history.

Re: Greg Oden's athleticism
He obviously put on some weight during his time off, but i'm not sure if he can get that explosiveness back, like Stoudemire, unless he really works hard and sheds some weight
-
Re: Greg Oden's athleticism
He's had serious knee injuries, it's tough to get back to how you were(explosiveness) especially with 7 fters. Plus the extra weight he put on.
I believe the drive at 1:21 is a travel.

Dude even the comentators and NBA experts said he LOST some weight from last year.

Re: Greg Oden's athleticism
He has been looking really explosive lately. Unfortunately, I can't find any of the clips from this season on YouTube anymore. Looks like they might have been taken down.

I think he just dislocated his knee.
Rose Garden is dead silent. I can barely breath right now.

What else is new
Hope it's not serious

Re: Oden is down and hurt
Watching the game right now as we speak. He's being carried off the court in a stretcher right now, not good.
-
Re: Oden is down and hurt
Yeah, It doesn't look very good... I'm very sorry to every Blazer fan
-
Re: Oden is down and hurt
Looks pretty serious, carried out on stretcher.
-
Greg Oden injured
WOW, Oden down, taken out of the game on a strecher. portland just cant catch a break. Rudy is out too for the game. cunningham injured, Outlaw out for the season, Batum likely out for season, Aldrdige injured last 2 games. Heck their coach is injured.

Re: Greg Oden injured
expected. oden will never be a franchise center.

Re: Oden is down and hurt
Brandon Roy - "Yes! More shots for me!
Seriously, I like G.O., but I hope he's OK. Dang, you could hear mice peeing on cotton, when G.O. Went down.
-
Re: Oden is down and hurt
I think it's the left knee which would not be the one he had surgery on. I don't even really care who wins the game now. One good thing is that it happened in the air. Not by coming down on it akward.
Blazers look to have the the wind knocked right out of them. I think it's as bad as when bynum dislocated his knee.
-
Re: Oden is down and hurt
he'll never be more than a role player.

he is officially Sam Bowie 2.0 now. Pretty good when he plays, but hurt all the time.
Portland have two of the biggest busts of all time
-
Re: Oden is down and hurt
unfortunately this is looking more and more like sam bowie part 2. best of luck to greg
-
Re: Greg Oden injured
Sam Bowie 2.0, his nickname is now official
-
Re: Oden is down and hurt
The bright side is he's still just 21, but man this was dissapointing. He was coming into his own offensively and the defense/rebounding is already elite. Hopefully he recovers well, but he's been injury prone since highschool. I'm rooting for him, though.
And Sam Bowie never had the type of potential Oden does.

worse. they passed up two of the better players of all time in other to acquire these busts.

Re: Oden is down and hurt
My condolences goes to Blazer fans. Just when Oden looks like he's starting to improve significantly this happens.

Yeh he did, Sam Bowie was like 7'4", and really quick, he could have been like a better Ralph Sampson.
Both Oden and Bowie have unveven leg lengths. Portland should have learned their lesson

sorry to hear that, really :ohwell:

Damn, I wish Greg the best. I hope he's doing well..

Re: Saturday night Greg Oden hurt left knee as Blazers hosted Rockets
nuts he was just getting up to speed.... hopefully it's not too bad and they are being more cautious than needed

Bowie was listed at 7'1" and he entered the league at 235 pounds. Where did you get 7'4" from? So an inch taller than Oden with 40 fewer pounds(in muscle) with less power and athleticism?

Really? I didn't know Durant was a 6 time NBA champion, 5 time MVP, 14 time all-star, 14 time all-star, a defensive player of the year, etc.
Stupid troll. I bet you're 16 and haven't even watched the league more than 5 years.

Re: Saturday night Greg Oden hurt left knee as Blazers hosted Rockets
blazer fans should try to stay positive. being carried off doesnt always equal doom.
see pierce in the 2008 finals

I don't think Oden has taken acting classes.

lol, you interpreted "two of the better players" as meaning "the two players were equal".

Re: Saturday night Greg Oden hurt left knee as Blazers hosted Rockets
Man, I so sad right now. I don't even care about this damn game.
Our injured list is so long.
Injured Blazers: Nic Batum, Travis Outlaw, Patrick Mills, Jeff Pendergraph, Coach Nate McMillan, Greg Oden.
Our team is falling apart.

Sorry, that's just been an annoying generalization I've noticed is that we passed on Jordan 2.0 with Durant, my bad.

I'm sad as well but you know what? If we still make the playoffs this depleted then that says a lot about this team and I'll be happy. Trying to just find some sort of positive in this.

That's not a good thing. Non-Contact injuries tend to be the worst.
