Amnesty Boozer. Was a star once, with Utah and Cleveland. Apparently declined in Chicago, even though he was one of the most consistent performers. He lost passion, but still has talent to be consistent enough, but obviously severely overpaid. Agree with Amnesty but disappointed.
Good move..gibson is much better defensively and has so much upside
whereas boozer looks to be on the decline
It's about damn time.
They should had done this before, and resigned Asik. Noah + Asik + Gibson = best defensive and rebounding frontcourt on the league.
So which teams are willing to take Boozer? It would have to be a team under the salary cap during the first round of bids, right?

Agreed on the Asik move.

Yup, but I see him nding up as a FA.
Should have done it last season.
makes sense. once boozer started to decline offensively (especially in the half court set), it was an easy decision. taj is better as long as he stays healthy. still think they should have kept asik but that poison pill really hurt them. asik + gibson was one helluva rebounding/defensive frontcourt
Boozer to the Heat callin it!
Meh. I hate my team's franchise front office.
So many dumb moves. From 1999 - it's been one mistake after another. We luck into D. Rose, and then the kid has a career altering knee injury.
Post MJ curse? IDK. We never should've signed Boozer for that money from the get go. Ugh, I hate this team apart from Rose and Gibson.
bout time. If the Bulls had another legit big instead of Boozer the last 2 years, they would've gotten further in the playoffs.

Dude, we drafted Ty Thomas over Lamarcus Aldridge AND Brandon Roy.
T-Wolves? K.Love going down for abit, could use any help you can get at PF in the meantime if you're looking at making a playoff run when Love comes back.
They should go after J-Smoove!
Dude, we drafted Ty Thomas over Lamarcus Aldridge AND Brandon Roy.

actually you guys drafted Aldridge and then traded him for Thomas

I dont think Boozer can be amnestied until next summer. The deadline ended during this past summer
actually you guys drafted Aldridge and then traded him for Thomas
Even worse.
A Clipper / Laker fan is schooling me on the actual details because I'm trying to forget so many atrocious deals over the past decade and a half.
:oldlol:
Dude, we drafted Ty Thomas over Lamarcus Aldridge AND Brandon Roy.

You got Rose 2 years later though, so probably better it played out that way

We still could've got lucky getting Rose even with either Roy or Aldridge. That's all it was in 2008, our record wasn't near as bad as the other teams at the bottom of that draft. And then Rose messes his knee and his superior / game changing athleticism vanishes. Jay Williams gets in a motorcycle accident in 2003 before we can trade up to get hometown product, Dwyane Wade. One thing after another, both bad decisions and luck. :(
i didnt read the article yet but did the Bulls publically outright say this? if so dumb move

Well, you don't know how it'll go with Rose yet.
But you can't be more proud of the Bulls during this Rose era. I've been rooting for them the last few playoffs. Especially the Celtics series that went 7 games.. what a series.. Noah steals the ball and fastbreak right in front of Pierce.. I can still remember that series so clearly.
Rose/Asik/Gibson/Noah/Deng are all-heart players. I'm happy to see Boozer finally gone, that money should've went into better use.
Dude, we drafted Ty Thomas over Lamarcus Aldridge AND Brandon Roy.

Then we wouldn't have gotten Rose.
I dont think Boozer can be amnestied until next summer. The deadline ended during this past summer
He can be amnestied this Summer. I think Bulls keep him one more year, since dumping him, helps us in no way to acquire a big time talent next year anyways. If he absolutely stinks it up, which pre season is indicating he will, then so long Boozer.
Let me reiterate, even if we dump Boozer, we'd still be right at the cap thresh hold. While that's nothing for a team like L.A. The Bulls FO ARE the cheapest bunch of sum bitches there are.
Why are teams so quick and ready to amnesty players. I'm sure he'll be tradeable next summer. Only has 2 years left. Or just give him away to a team with cap space.
Why are teams so quick and ready to amnesty players. I'm sure he'll be tradeable next summer. Only has 2 years left. Or just give him away to a team with cap space.
Bulls are being patient. The article by Stein is just something most Bulls fans already knew since last Summer. If he performs, JR's keeping him for another year, until our Euro stud comes over in 2014. If he absolutely sucks, getting rid of his BUM ass.
Bulls can't amnesty him til Summer '13, so you have to think this could cause some rifts between Boozer and the team throughout the season.
Is the Jrue Holiday seeking max contract legit? No way he or his agent is seeking that. I dont believe it. I cant believe it.
Welcome to Dallas 2013 version of Elton Brand. :lol
Why are teams so quick and ready to amnesty players. I'm sure he'll be tradeable next summer. Only has 2 years left. Or just give him away to a team with cap space.
who would want that contract? they would have to package him with assets to move it
My god are the Bulls such an ass backwards organization. Sign Boozer to that terrible contract just to amnesty him 3 years later. Let go of all their depth just to save some money. They should just move Boozer, if Joe Johnson and his cap crippling contract can get moved anyone's can.
Booze to MIA
**** YEEES!!!
No more lazy, uninspired defense from that POS. Noah constantly had that "You kidding me?" face while covering Boozer's blown assignments on D. The guy gives up just as many points as he scores, now at least Gibson+Noah can shut down the paint. Taj can also finish with power and not get blocked like a bitch on pussyass lay ups. He has underrated athleticism.
Dude, we drafted Ty Thomas over Lamarcus Aldridge AND Brandon Roy.
Actually you drafted Aldridge, then traded him to Portland for Tyrus.
Meh. I hate my team's franchise front office.

I know what you mean, the FO doesn't even seem committed to winning championships. They are so cheap with money, in this era of super teams going over the cap for 3+ all-stars we got Chicago holding back, signing mediocre players for cheap and hoping Rose can solo 2-3 superstars. I wouldn't blame him if he left after being eliminated by OKC/MIA/Lakers 4 years in a row.
Boozer to the Heat callin it!
Heat are over the cap, can't even bid on him.
It made sense to amnesty Boozer last year, before Rose got his big extension. If they did it this Summer (deadline has passed) they wouldn't have any room for anyone else anyway. If he plays well this year, without Rose, he's suddenly valuable again.
Also, do people think Boozer is no longer a basketball player? He's not even that overpaid. It's just that his contract is 5 years long and the Bulls are spending lots of money on both Noah and Deng (and obviously now Rose).
If you wanna see a team that would be smart to take on Boozer, it's the Spurs...if the Bulls wanted rid of Boozer. Stephen Jackson (expiring) and Splitter (expiring and young, good, plays defense, can play PF/C, and much much cheaper)...
Do people think the Spurs wouldn't be able to get the best out of him?
i was hoping the Bulls can trade Boozer for someone like David Lee but its too late :(
