"While editing my Jerry Sloan vid, I discovered a crazy story: He had taken the Evansville head coaching job in '77, quit after 5 days, later that season the whole team died in a tragic plane crash. The 1 player to survive (didn't travel due to injury) died in car crash 2wks later"
Has anyone heard this!? This is insane. Now I want to study this more.
Edit: More information.

The only member of the Purple Aces who did not die in the crash was David Furr; he was out for the season with an ankle injury and thus was not on the plane that day. But just two weeks after the crash, Furr and his younger brother Byron were killed in a car accident near Newton, Illinois, leaving the entire 1977 Evansville team dead.[2]
There's a universe where Sloan died on that flight.

Re: CRAZY Jerry Sloan story.
So are you saying that it was Jerry's fault that it had to happen?
Just kidding. Btw, thank wikipedia.
Re: CRAZY Jerry Sloan story.
That's some final destinationesque.

Re: CRAZY Jerry Sloan story.
I actually never knew this
Crazy. I thought it was some underwhelming shit and trolling but jesus christ that's actually crazy
Re: CRAZY Jerry Sloan story.
Sloan never would talk about it either. He’d always say something like “I don’t discuss that, I just leave it be.”
Re: CRAZY Jerry Sloan story.
The thing is, had Sloan taken the coaching job, maybe the plane didn't crash and the whole team didn't have to die. A lot of things could change with a different head coach.
