Dwight Howard and James Harden Wouldn't Mind Us Getting Ersan Ilyasova
The most likely Buck player to be relocated to a different zip code is Ersan Ilyasova, who is coming off a disappointing season but whose stock remains fairly high.
The general consensus among some NBA personnel is that the Bucks, who are obviously in a rebuilding mode, could obtain a late-first round pick for the 27-year-old Ilyasova in what is regarded as one of the most deep and talented draft in years.
It’s hardly a secret some teams who are picking in the late teens and 20s are receptive to moving their pick. One of them is Phoenix, which has the 18th and 27th overall picks and would like to add a veteran frontcourt presence. Another is Oklahoma City, which is unlikely to keep both of its picks at 21 and 29.
And there is also Houston, which has the 25th pick and failed in its attempt to secure a “stretch 4” at the trading deadline in February.
Houston has shown interest in Ilyasova in the past with some Rockets firmly believing Ilyasova would nicely complement Rocket stars James Harden and Dwight Howard with his potent perimeter shooting.
Ilyasova is a career 37 percent 3-point shooter but shot a sizzling 45.5 from beyond the arc just three seasons ago and 44.4 percent two seasons ago.
Plagued by ankle injuries last season, Ilyasova shot 28 percent on 3-pointers while averaging 11.2 points and 6.2 rebounds a game.
Ilyasova’s contract is also friendly. He will earn $7.9 for each of the next two seasons with a team option of $8.4M for the 2016-17 season.
While there are some NBA officials who fully expect Ilyasova to be traded by the draft, he might not be the only Buck to be jettisoned.
