Inb4 Joyner with his TS% and the rest of Durant's fraud stats.

Melo doesn't have Westbrook therefore he can shoot all he wants.
I only watched the last 7 minutes of the game so I couldn't tell you if he was being aggressive enough in order to draw fouls. Are the Knicks like 8-0 when Melo scores 40? geez.
After watching the Laker/Thunder game, I don't know what to say.
Melo would get more freethrows if he shook like he was having a seizure everytime another player grazed him, a la Durant.
Melo da gawd. Love this guy
When you're left wide open time and time again it helps.

Watching an OKC game is just :facepalm if a defender breathes on KD he goes to the line:facepalm

Considering Melo hit like 10 threes obviously he wasn't l iving in the paint but he's a significantly more physical player than KD who draws most of his fouls on jumpers anyways. 3 free throws would probably be KD's career low. Wind blows, KD falls down. Then he grabs a player around the neck and gets away with it after being humiliated. Gotta love the guy.
I would trade Melo for Durant, but yeah Melo gets absolutely no respect. Some guy sticks his fingers on his eyes twice in 5 seconds and Melo gets a technical. :lol
I've seen Vince Carter zone out even better in a playoff series.

Yea Melo definitely gets less love than most stars.

James Hardens fouls are more inexplicable. He ran into every Nets player last night and heaved his arms in the air like he just took a bullet to the chest. He has 500 free throw attempts this season. It's egregious. I hate phonies like him.

I keep saying this...Melo gets the least respect out of any superstar in the league. He gets hacked like no other, and he's never given the same leeway that others like KD and LBJ have. Dude slams the ball out of frustration/pain because he got eye-gouged and refs T him up... :facepalm

Harden is cheap as **** on drawing fouls too, agreed.
No wonder OKC got Kevin Martin. One of the best at drawing fouls.
I've seen Vince Carter zone out even better in a playoff series.
Vince led a team 5x worse than this current Knicks team to the second round and was one shot away from leading them to the east finals. Vince certainly had unbearable playoff performances but he had some memorable ones too.
Russel Freaking Westbrook.
IN THE NBA FINALS.

Please see Dwight Howard. ;) Dwight gets treated like a rookie journeyman by the refs. The guy gets called for a foul for walking on the court.
And on the flip side of the spectrum is LeRef and dwhistle, who've built their careers on getting ref help. Far more than Durant could ever hope for.

Martin and Durant make me dislike OKC strongly lately. Two 150 pound players who create 100 percent of contact and get rewarded anyways.
just looked it up durant has never done it. but it is a pretty specific stat.

Eh Lebron and Wade are both elite slashers and insanely powerful. They get fouled attacking, not shooting jumpers as much. Dwight gets TONS of free throws from yelling AYYYYYE which is BS but he does legitimately get hacked. KD is the only superstar who doesn't get hacked yet regularly shoots 15 plus free throws.

Haha still funny that my assumption was correct. How about 40 on less than let's say 8 free throw attempts, a reasonable amount?

Yeah, my post is indeed in reference to that 2001 playoff series. Just check out Game 3 and 6 in total and look at the free throw attempts. Clearly his best playoff series, IMO.
But yeah, he can be inconsistent too.

Let's not kid ourselves...players straight up punch Dwight when he has the ball because if the foul's called, it's just as good as a turnover.

nope.
Fantastic scoring performance! No FT padding, No OT/OTs... he was just simply ON FIRE...

No, but Q did it

44/10/2 with 2 steals, 3 turnovers on 17-30 FG, 5-9 3PT 5-7 FT.
I didn't do this just to get Durant in here, but I used BBR game finder and made the FTA cut-off five instead of three since that's kind of arbitrary. Tonight makes the third time Carmelo has scored 40+ on 5 or fewer FT attempts. Durant has done it once. So coming into tonight Carmelo had a 2-1 lead in this very specific stat, bit of trivia, whatever you want to call it. Carmelo has also been in the league four more years than Durant.

I'd say the opposite, quite easily. His FT's are explicable. He usually gets fouled.
Yes, he also does flop and it's a shame, but most of his FT's are legit. And at least you CAN defend him. You're not allowed to defend Durant. Even if it's a block on the ball, with there clearly being space between the bodies. It's ridiculous.
If you raise the FTA to 8...

Not that this necessarily helps Durant's argument, but he also has 26 career 40-point games to Carmelo's 24. In 8 of his 40 point games, Durant has attempted 10 or fewer FT's and 5 others with 11 or fewer; and in 9 of Carmelo's 40-point games he's attempted 10 or fewer FT's and 1 other with 11 or fewer. And again, Durant has been in the league 4 fewer years than Carmelo.
