Pacers want Rajon Rondo from Celtics
And the two teams have reportedly discussed it to see if something can be worked out.

What do you think of Rondo? How would he do on an empty, rebuilding team that needed him to take control?

He'd be an afterthought, but while he is quite overrated, Pacers would have to give us Paul George and George hill for him

Re: Pacers want Rajon Rondo from Celtics
Wow what's up with all the Rondo trades? Wtf??
-
Re: Pacers want Rajon Rondo from Celtics
3 teamer. CP3 to Boston, JO + Rondo to Indy, Collison + Hibbert to NO plus some picks.

Re: Pacers want Rajon Rondo from Celtics
Ainge is eager to have some trade and some kind of sparks in his team. But clearly, he does not want to move KG, PP and Ray Allen.
Rite now, the button is on and looks like Rondo is going to be placed somewhere else.

Re: Pacers want Rajon Rondo from Celtics
I hate to see Rondo go (truly), but if it means landing CP3 and, in turn, Dwight Howard next summer... I'm all for it. Resign Garnett and Allen next summer to one year contracts...

KG and Ray are coming off the books after this season and thats over $30m worth of contracts. Hopefully if a move for CP3 materialises, it can attract Howard over.

Wow....i can't stand Dwight "Cry Baby" Howard and Chris "Flopperella" Paul, but i would not be opposed to us attaining those players.

Re: Pacers want Rajon Rondo from Celtics
Getting Rondo w/o giving up Paul George then being able to sign Nene or Marc Gasol'd be pretty awesome. I'm assuming Hibbert'd be part of the deal.

You'll likely get David West.
You'll likely get David West.
They're not signing David West with absolutely no C and guys like Nene and Gasol out there. With the roster as is West makes some sense, w/ no Hibbert it doesn't.

and you're okay with that?? Rondo's weaknesses will be magnified greatly in any other situation.

Are you joking? You realistically think Boston has a shot at grabbing D12 and CP3?
and you're okay with that?? Rondo's weaknesses will be magnified greatly in any other situation.
I honestly don't know if I'm OK with it or not, just seems like a fairly realistic scenario. A Rondo/George/Granger/Hansbrough/Nene or Gasol lineup is pretty enticing.

Pacers will offer West the max, and we will all use Lebowski's tears as fuel for our laughter.

Why not? Celtics has the talent(if CP3 comes over) and cap space to do it.

What do you think about how much Nene is worth? You would have to give him near the max
I just don't see how a player who is soon 30, with zero All Stars (Haven't been very close either) and zero All NBA teams deserves a max contract
Nene getting the max, DeAndre Jordan getting arround 10mill a year shows that the lockout was pointless.

I'd offer something around 4/45-50, he wants the max he can screw off. Offer Gasol something like 4/40, Memphis matches then just bank the cap room and get a 5 somewhere else.

Re: Pacers want Rajon Rondo from Celtics
What about this Celtics/Hornets/Blazers trade? Picks can be added as well, but those were the main salary pieces moving around.

Re: Pacers want Rajon Rondo from Celtics
All of this Rondo for CP3 stuff is making me sick.
-
Re: Pacers want Rajon Rondo from Celtics
Hibbert is a interesting player. At times he looks like he will become an elite center, and other times you wonder what he will become. Pretty inconsistent player. It would be a tough call, but I might role the dice on Hibbert + Collison for Rondo. Rondo is a proven player and I think he will make a bigger impact on the Pacers than Darren and Hibbert would.

Why? If NO looks to trade and get something for Paul, Rondo is huge value. Boston is actually a team that I think Paul would agree to going too as well. Isn't perfect but makes sense. Not like it's a Knicks offer or a Clippers offer involving Kaman. Rondo is a young point, throw in Jeff Green and a few future 1st's and not that crazy. Boston isn't New York or Miami but it's not Minny or something.
Rondo is a good mix of value and location. Westbrook and Ibaka would be a better offer but would OKC do that? .. how many legit offers are out there that have both the value and the desired location? A team like Indiana could have the value but is Paul going to re-up there?
Of course if NO just let's Paul walk than it's stupid.

No, I realize that there is a real possibility of CP3 in Boston joined by Dwight Howard.
I really dont want to see that happen.

Re: Pacers want Rajon Rondo from Celtics
New Orleans doesn't want Rondo. They want young, super cheap assets. CP3's leaving, so jumpstart the rebuild. Get the payroll as low as possible, a really flexible roster as far as what direction to take it, and find a buyer.

Ohhhhh. It's late. Figured you meant like the idea of a deal getting done around Rondo makes you sick.
Yeah, either way I see it is Dwight Howard\CP3 are most likely ending up on a team that's already really good. Weather that be New York, L.A, Boston etc.

Problem is Chris Paul isn't going to re-up with a ton of teams most likely so that automatically takes a shit ton of teams that would be able to absorb all there bad contracts out. A team like Denver could take on Emeka\Chris Paul\Whatever giving them back like Lawson\Chandlers rights\Mosgov\Hamilton kinda thing. Doubt Chris Paul would be like ok I'll re-up in Denver so right off the bat those types of deal are probably off the table. Same with a team like Indiana. There not giving up like Hibbert|Collison|George for a guy who's not 100% on board with re-signing.
Thus leaving a team like Boston with Rondo. Good value and probably works out with Paul. If NO wants to save money all they have to do is move Rondo to another team for whatever they want. Flipping Rondo wouldn't be hard. Probably flip him for a decent young point on his rookie contract + picks + another prospect or something if they really wanted to save money.

NO wants to shed money, they're not doing that in a 2 teamer, but a team like Indiana, with ample cap space AND nice young pieces lets them do that.

Ya I guess that's just a simpler way. Just meant they could always get Rondo in a 2 team trade with just them and Boston and ship Rondo off after if there looking to save money. If they can't get a good 3 way trade off or can't pull of any better deal with the same value than doubt they straight up reject Rondo because of trying to save money. Not like he's Luol Deng and they won't be able to save money\get value from Rondo and Rondo alone.

Trading Paul basically means that franchise is getting blown up. So they do it, they should bottom out, get the payroll as low as possible and have a core of solid young guys and get a high pick or two in the coming drafts.

That's actually a really great trade all the way around if NO gets a couple picks.
That said, I think Rondo and Dwight would be amazing together for the future, and the Celtics need picks to be able to build well around them for the future.
I wouldn't mind that trade, but I'm happy with Rondo just the same.

Hmm for an example couldn't NO land Rondo. Next week trade Rondo|Emeka to Denver for Lawson|Hamilton or whatever because Denver can take on the extra salary. They could dump Rondo to whatever team that has cap space basically and save money, right?. Trade Rondo to Indiana for George and a 1st round pick if they wanted value + savings.
I actually have no idea about NO. I think there's a shot they just let Paul expire because doesn't the NBA own them and probably cause a scene if he just get's dumped off to some good team .. witch is probably the only teams he's going to agree to re up with.
-
Re: Pacers want Rajon Rondo from Celtics
What if Nene or Marc Gasol doesn't want to sign in Indiana, the Pacers are probably going to have to overpay them most likely. Who does Indiana go to as a Plan B after these guys? :confusedshrug:

I don't know if it's that simple. Two, sure, maybe you could, but then you're doing the exact thing but in two separate transactions hoping you'll be able to pull it off. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

True. Just meant 3 way trades can be tough to pull off and if NO does infact actually trade Paul can't see them turning down a Rondo like deal based on money alone because they can dump Rondo for savings\value down the line anyways.

I'm just saying, what do they do if they can't land one of those guys? Who do you get at C after this? Tanking (Probably a bad word for it, but they wouldn't have a good record) and having a good draft pick and getting a guy like Andre Drummond or Anthony Davis isn't a bad thing though.
I'm just not sold on Rondo, seems like a product of having a 3 great teammates around him, maybe I'm just making this generalization because he can't shoot 3's worth shit, but I don't like him, and he's not a scoring threat to the Pacers either.

memphis has enough salary cap to resign gasol and outmatch any offer sheet. in other words, i don't see gasol leaving memphis. good question...i don't know about that second part.

Re: Pacers want Rajon Rondo from Celtics
Just spitballing, but wonder if Indy could keep Hibbert, but send Collison + pick along w/ Boston's assets (picks) for their part of the deal, but also take back Okafor giving NO MAJOR financial relief?
Then Indy could just amnesty Okafor and have Rondo/George/Granger/Hansbrough/Hibbert. You can ask why NO wouldn't just amnesty Okafor themselves, but does a potential owner want to pay Okafor's 14 mil or whatever for the next 3 years? Pretty ugly debt there.
