George Gervin:
- 5 x All-NBA 1st Team
- 4 x All-NBA/ABA 2nd Team
- 12 x All-Star
- Led the NBA in scoring for 4 seasons
- Ranks 14th in career points (on .504 FG%)
One of the greatest offensive players of all-time. It's not his fault he played for awful teams - his teammates were notoriously bad.
Unseld.

BULLSHITE. Spurs made western finals in late seventies, he choked game 7, scored alot of points but in the 4th he made one shot and Bobby Dandridge torched him down the stretch.
James Silas was a really good player until injuries, Larry Kenon led the league in steals, not the greatest team, but the late 70's was the weakest era in NBA history.
My vote is Paul Pierce.

You just added weight to my argument here. Thanks. Gervin led a team of Silas, Kenon and a pile of crap to the Western Conference Finals.
Gervin averaged 29.6ppg that season on .541 FG%.
He put up nearly identical numbers in 14 Playoff games.
Hate to nit-pick, but the Spurs were in the Eastern Conference until the 1981 season. They did make consecutive WCF appearances in 82 and 83 losing to the Lakers both times.
The 1979 team was actually pretty good. Kenon and Silas were ABA all-stars and among the more athletic young players of the seventies. Kenon was the second best player and had a few 20-20 playoff games for the Nets when they won the 1974 title. Their center Billy Paultz was a borderline all-star ion the ABA and a tough as nails guy who gave Cowens, McAdoo and even Kareem some trouble.
As good as Gervin was, he was really only elite as a scorer. Consider the 1970's answer to Allen Iverson from the last decade.
