PinkMeth.com, should it be illegal?
Just ran into this website, they post nude pics of girls without their permission along with some personal info like their real names, FB, email accounts and where they live. I'm thinking this should be illegal but obviously they haven't gotten shut down. What do you guys think?
I don't know if there is a previous thread on this so if there is, can someone bump it?

Re: PinkMeth.com, should it be illegal?
I am always in favor of folks being knowledgeable about their online presence and being wise enough to never throw nude pictures out there on the internet, whether you feel it's private or not. That said, I still do not believe having their photos stolen and posted alongside personal information should be legal.
I decided to do a little bit of reading and in at least one instance (and I'm guessing tons and tons more) a woman had uploaded photos to a private album on Photobucket five years ago to send to her boyfriend (because she felt it'd be easier than emailing them). After those five years passed and she'd somehow forgotten she even uploaded them, her parents were called by a random stranger (a supposedly good samaritan), notifying them that her pictures had been uploaded and linked to her Facebook page and Google +.
I don't know a ton about computers, but it seems relatively easy for folks to bypass any sort of password situation on Photobucket. It seems to be a crappy situation all around. Yes, they should have never put photos of themselves like that online in the first place, but I don't think it means they deserve this.

Re: PinkMeth.com, should it be illegal?
Yeah, that shit should be illegal. Just imagine if it were your daughter or wife. I won't go to the site. I'll stick to porn where girls know that they are being put on the net.

Re: PinkMeth.com, should it be illegal?
I also did a google search for "shut down pinkmeth.com" and one of the first things to pop up was something from anon about how they wished to shut the place down. That's a good sign, right? I don't know internets too well but anon is a good place to have on your side, yes?

Illegal? There should more sites like this if anything.

Re: PinkMeth.com, should it be illegal?
This is terrible. Unless of course it is set up with a search function to look up girls you know from school. Does the site have that function?
I tried to visit the website and it wouldn't load. It was taking too long so I got scared and gave up.
:oldlol:
Even if there are things out there equally or even more disturbing, I still get surprised whenever I stumble upon something like this. Definitely needs to get taken down. :/

No he's not. The site isn't a virus. It is a terrible site, though. Hopefully it gets taken down soon.

Re: PinkMeth.com, should it be illegal?
Isn't it basically illegal due to personality rights? Where I live it isn't allowed to spread and publish pictures of people without their consent.

Re: PinkMeth.com, should it be illegal?
It should be illegal, but it's not getting shutdown because it's basically diverting the responsibility of the pictures.
From the site:
Content Produced by Third Parties: The operators of pinkmeth.net are not the “producers” of any depictions of any actual or simulated sexually explicit conduct. To the extent that any such content appears on this site, the operators’ involvement with respect there to is limited to the transmission, storage, retrieval, hosting and/or formatting of depictions posted by third party users, on areas of the website under the users’ control. pinkmeth.net submitters, the third party “producers” of actual or simulated sexually explicit conduct, are responsible for maintaining the age verification documentation required by Title 18 U.S.C.
It maintains that the site itself is not a producer, that 3rd parties are the responsible parties who produces these images, and they are to be held liable. They submit that they are simply a vessel for transferring, storage, hosting, and viewing of these images.
Kinda like the torrent sites saying they are not responsible for the pirated movies, it's the users who upload them.
Not sure what I think about this.. :confusedshrug:

Re: PinkMeth.com, should it be illegal?
The thing is......even if you shut down this site, it's so easy for anyone, anywhere to start another site like this, or post nude pics with names somewhere else......once the pictures are out there, it's over. Can't put finger back in the dam.
