Yao Ming out for rest of playoffs with left foot hairline fracture!
http://www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=4310
Rockets center Yao Ming has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2009 NBA Playoffs after further diagnostic procedures conducted today revealed a small hairline fracture in his left foot. The finding is in addition to the earlier diagnosis of a left ankle sprain that he sustained during Friday night’s 108-94 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals playoff series. While no surgery is needed, the expected recovery timeline is between eight to 12 weeks.

Re: Yao out for the season?
I'm a Lakers fan but this makes me sad. The guy works so hard and plays with a ton of heart but his body fails him.
He did play an extraordinary amount of games for him as he was also in the Olympics too.

Re: Yao out for the season?
ESPN just said it was a fractured ankle..
-
Well... The Rockets are done.
Yao has a hairline fracture in his foot. Season over.
The Rockets are gone.

wanting a team to lose and wanting a team to get injured are completely diff.
rip 09 rocks

Re: Yao out for the season?
oh ****. this series is over.
damn it.
-
Re: Yao out for the season?
They just mentioned it in the Cavs-Hawks broadcast, the injury is a hairline fracture, not a sprain, and he's out for the rest of the playoff. Laker take it in 5.
-
Re: Yao out for the season?
Very sad news. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and comes back strong next season.
I am going to chalk this injury up to bad Karma from the Blazer/Rocket series where iTruWarrior (#1 Yao nut hugger) was wishing bodily injury on Oden.

Re: Yao out for the season?
Great news for Laker fans...
-
Re: Yao out for the season?
Damn, this sucks man. Looks like Yao is going to be plagued by foot injuries his whole career. Such a shame.
This is series is over. Damn, I really wanted to the Rockets to beat the Lakers.

Re: Yao out for the season?
Well that's a lame end to what was looking like the most exciting second round series.
ESPN said it was a hairline fracture.

Re: Yao out for the season?
Yao should just retire, there's no point doing this every year. Him being able to walk for the rest of his life is more important than ball, and it's really starting to screw over the Rockets at this point as well.

not really...

Re: Yao out for the season?
Sucks for the Rockets. I never like to see a guy get hurt, even the ones I hate, but especially somebody like Yao. At least it should be easier work for the Lake Show to wrap things up.
-
Re: Yao out for the season?
I'm glad we beat them at home before this so the haters don't say we got lucky..

Re: Yao out for the season?
d2mn, I wanted the Rockets to be 100% to prepare the Lakers for the finals.

Captain obvious to the rescue

Re: Yao out for the season?
not really...
I'm not saying you're happy he got injured, but it does help you tremendously in this series...

Re: Yao out for the season?
my heart would drop right now if i was a rockets fan...sypathy for Yao, he doesnt deserve it. O Well, looks like a Den vs LA western conference finals after all.

It should be but we know how the Lakers like to take their foot off the pedal. This where they need to show how they've improved over last year.

He mentioned before he might retire at Age 30.
But hes such a big guy that these injuries are usually devastating considering his feet support his huge 7'6 frame.

I actually think it is a pretty decent idea. Yao is simply too big. People as tall as him usually can't even walk. Yao having become the player he has is a once in a lifetime thing. (Not only in his lifetime, but in ours as well.)
I would think about retiring if I was him. Maybe not now but I wouldn't play after 30 if I were him.

Re: Yao out for the season?
Damn it Yao. You couldn't make it thru ONE whole season?
I wanted you to knock the Lakers out for me. Damnit
-
Re: Yao out for the season?
Rocket weren't gonna win anyway.
-
Re: Yao out for the season?
Who do the Rockets turn to now with Mutombo and now Yao injured? Landry? Hayes? The Rockets are in trouble. With no legit 7 footers left on the Rockets, Phil Jackson should start to play Bynum a little more. He needs to gain some confidence going into the conference finals and this is the perfect time to do so.

Re: Yao Ming out for rest of playoffs with left foot hairline fracture!
for his own his own sake, he should probably retire. the human body just isnt designed to take nba pounding on a frame like his

Re: Yao Ming out for rest of playoffs with left foot hairline fracture!
Damn this sucks. The guy plays with a ton of heart and gives it his all every second hes out there. Also, this series was shaping to be a very entertaining one... now not so much.
-
