Re: Wow, Perry Jones to the Thunder
OKC's second unit of
Maynor
Harden
Jones
Collison
Mohammed
is legitimately better than some NBA teams. Jones seems to have all star potential, but IMO he is a very sure thing of being a 10 ppg 5 rpg on good efficiency off of the bench. More perimeter oriented Lamar Odom IMO
uhh, maybe A NBA team. As in, the Bobcats.
Re: Wow, Perry Jones to the Thunder
Wait I thought that's what GM's had issues with? The fact he was a four that wanted to play the 3. Unless I'm missing something I thought he lacked the shot that they had.
Awesome pick for OKC. Crazy the raw talent that team has.
It was more his knee, and the fact he didn't take over games enough for many people's liking but on OKC that is a non issue.
Granted it's a highlight tape, but skillset is very similar to those guys above http://youtu.be/lMhOiRZqH1w

Re: Wow, Perry Jones to the Thunder
Yeah, OKC and Boston got the steals. Sully and Jones.

Ya I remember reading those things as well. From what I saw I thought he was more of a 4 than a 3 tho. He doesn't even have 3 point range at the college level so how can his game compare to Durant, T-Mac, Lewis? Didn't he shoot under 70% from the line in both his seasons at Baylor?
I dunno, maybe it's just me.

And Jones is considered lottery talent and, depend on who you ask, high lottery talent. I don't now the exact "knee issues" he has but, if that turns out not to be an issue, and he gets mentally stronger, it's an absolute steal at 28.
Sure, he may not pan out, but right now it's a great pick for a title contender. You don't expect to get someone who can potentially help out in his first year on a team this talented who just made a trip to the Finals and had to pick in the late 20s.
Re: Wow, Perry Jones to the Thunder
Perry Jones = Earl Clark. Won't be anything special.
Next year is going to be freaking awesome.
If Cole Aldrich can take over Nazi Muhammads minutes then we are golden.
Can't wait t have Maynor back as well. See you soon Heat fans
Re: Wow, Perry Jones to the Thunder
There roster for next year looks like this
Westbrook, Maynor
Sephalosha, Harden
Durant, PJ3
ibaka, collison
Perkins, Kansas center forgot his name
That's a deep team, PJ3 will be able to come in, be a combo forward off the bench. Very flexible line-up. Gonna be tough to keep everybody happy on that roster.
I like Maynor being back, that's an upgrade over fisher and PJ3 could be a great bench player. Very good bench.
Re: Wow, Perry Jones to the Thunder
Dude would have been a top 5 pick last year. lol
He has more talent than almost everyone in the draft, but he was mentally weak to an atrocious level at times in college. He's rail thin as well. No drive to be "the guy", but that's the one thing he won't have to be on the Thunder.
It's purely mental with him (although gaining weight will help lol). He will either want to be a really good player, or he will cash his checks for a few years and find another league to play in.
Can predict all you want, but it's hard when it comes mostly down to the mental side.
Add that there are concerns about his knee and that basketball is not his first love. He switched when he became too tall for football. Does not have good court sense or a lick of toughness. Destined for nothing but talk about his "potential".
Re: Wow, Perry Jones to the Thunder
If he pans out OKC is gonna make 20 teams look stupid
Re: Wow, Perry Jones to the Thunder
His health is a risk and don't see him doing much yet but could develop in the next few years nicely there.
