Retirement threads are LAME AF yall
Anyway, just wanted to take this opportunity to announce my retirement from insidehoops.com.
A wise man once said: "I'm pretty sure there's more to life than just arguing with people on the internet, and being really, really, ridiculously good looking."
I've been thinking about those words a lot lately. As many of you know, I'm almost 30. And the time draws nearer for me to go marching across that milestone, and when I do... I want to be better. Better than I was in my 20s. Better looking, better in bed, and even a better person I guess too. To sort of coin a phrase of my own here: "I'm starting with the man in the mirror. "
When I look at these silly internet flame wars I keep allowing myself to get pulled into with people I don't even know... Well, it just makes my dear heart blister. Sure it's all well and good when you're a young lad, still trying to figure things out, exploring the possibilities of interaction on this new fangled internet machine. But eventually there comes a time to act! And that time, is nigh.
Now, when I say "retirement" I mean a couple things, because I'll still post here occasionally. But firstly, I'm retiring from the bickering. No more personal attacks or getting wound up over stupid opinions that I can't change no matter how many walls of deliciously coherent points and counterpoints I produce. It's not worth the time nor the effort, nor the sacrifice in dignity. The same old debates go around like a carousel and eventually devolve into a deranged carnival of horrors and ritual sacrifice.
I'm sure this admission of my unwillingness to fight back going forward will put the "army of gimmicks" on the offensive to call me a shoe salesman and a daddy dependent. That's really quite fine, the insults have never bothered me. What bothers me, lately in particular, is the amount of time wasted on a website going back and forth with strangers about who has what kind of life. When we do that, my brothers and sisters, we all lose. And I don't know about you, but I would rather be hashtag winning. Hashtag, a better way. Hashtag, We Are One. Hashtag, Never Forget.
So no more derisive, abrasive, invective perspective. I may drop an opinion here and there in social/political topics, but it will probably be infrequent, and I won't continuously debate the issue within the thread. I still have a passion for debate and Socratic questioning, but this simply isn't the place to direct those energies. Because I genuinely do want to make a difference in the greater world around me, and have a lasting impact on our society. It's been useful doing some cerebral stretching and mental reps here on this board over the years, but I feel like I'm just doing laps on the track now and need a new approach to start turning mind into matter.
Also, I have no ill will (ill will records baby, queensbridge, holla at ya boy, shout out my homies upstate, ill will rest in peace) toward anyone here. Bygones are gone by as far as I'm concerned, even if you'd still rather see me castrated in broad daylight on a crowded city street. Deucewallaces, I love you man. I'd literally pick dingleberries out your asshole with my pinky finger if you asked me to as a personal favor. kentatm? I hope life treats you kindly and with great fortune. rose city? i respect you as a humanoid and look upon you with neighborly affection. jeff? i'm sorry for calling you a jew. Over, and over, and over, and over. gobb? I take back everything, man. You're not 40, and you don't live in your moms basement. You're young and spry, and you live in my heart. rasheed1? You're welcome at my basketball games any time  Everyone else? Well, I think you get the pitcher.
Anyway, best wishes to everyone. I genuinely hope you all get the chance to wake up each day and have the excitement of new possibilities bring a look to your face similar to this one: :lebronamazed:
As far as me? Well, I've got work to do. It's time for me to go get ready to be 30.

This is ISH AKA the Island of Lost Souls. You leaving this purgatory would be like your soul fleeing your body.

Like Arny gearing up to do another Terminator, you'll be posting here when your once greek Adonis like, chiseled body is rendered nothing more than cottage cheese and gravy in a garbage bag.

You've always been a douche baguette, but at least you're original and somewhat funny. Anyone that possesses a face like yours but isn't afraid to get in front of a camera in the name of self-depriciation is a ok in my book.
