He's at least in the top five. Of course, I've always considered him to be more of a small forward.

XxNeXuSxX 06-25-2006 04:11 PM

Pierce hasn't played SG since 2002-2003

geeWiz15 06-25-2006 04:20 PM

Pierce is an SG, get a clue, SF is Lamar Odom and Antawn Jamison and Shawn Marion, Pierce is a guard, end of story.

I'll list top swingmen. I'm not listing Tmac cause he hasn't played in forever.

1. Bron
2. Wade
3. Kobe
4. Pierce/Arenas
5. Pierce/Arenas
6. Carter
7. Redd/JRich

According to you, I have a clue, I live in Boston right now, and the lineup consists of him playing SF along with other small forwards like

Carmello Anthony
Shawn Marion ETC.

I'll go over the lineups the past 3 years just so you remember.

2002-2003

PG: Tony Delk
SG: Paul Pierce
SF: Eric Williams
PF: Antoine Walker
C: Tony Battie

2003-2004

PG:Chucky Atkins
SG:Ricky Davis
SF: Paul Pierce
PF: Walter Mccarty
C: Mark Blount

2004-2005

PG: Gary Payton
SG: Ricky Davis
SF: Paul Pierce
PF: Antoine Walker
C: Raef Lafrentz

2005-2006

PG: Delonte West
SG: Wally Szcerbiak
SF: Paul Pierce
PF: Ryan Gomes/Al Jefferson
C: Raef Lafrentz

Those are the starting lineups, yes I have a clue what I am talking about, thanks for reminding me.:banghead:

Skywalker 06-25-2006 04:34 PM

Everyones Forgetting Ray Allen. Y'old Fools.

dmenzion 06-25-2006 04:35 PM

ok fine w/e ....hes still the number 4 SG in the league though kuz he plays there sometimes.

why doesnt wally switch to 3 i mean id so rather have an athletic SG than a guy ho is slow and jus shoots...but hey its the celtics problem i guess thats why they didnt make the playoffs they decided to play wally at 2...whoop

MaxFly 06-25-2006 05:29 PM

He's probably number 4... I'd take him before Vince, Ray Allen and AI right now...

H&O

Wade as #1 is understandable, he is one of the top talents in the NBA as evidenced by his amazing playoffs performance

but why put Tmac ahead of Carter when Tmac has been injury riddled the entier season and essentially has not proved much?

and just to give some clarification, a swingman is traditionally defined as a player who can play both the SF and SG positions.

a PG is not a swingman.

but other than that, your list is perfectly plausible.

craigthomasb 06-25-2006 05:34 PM

man wally must get killed at SG on the defensive end

Real Men Wear Green 06-25-2006 05:40 PM

Wally does get killed on D. Anyhow, Paul Pierce plays both spots but if he was restricted to one and we didn't consider team make-up, just natural position, he'd be a 3. His strength, by NBA standards for players of his height, is exceptional. His speed is not. He's a better rebounder than he is a passer. And he's not built to guard players like Rip Hamilton, while he can handle someone like Antwan Jamison.

Im not really counted the season im saying talent wise i think tmac has more of it. For a full healthy season i think t mac is slighty better then carter

HALLandOATES 06-25-2006 06:30 PM

Oh and Iverson traditonally played the swing before last couple seasons, so my bad on that, i've just always reconized him as a 2 guard. I think he will change back to the SG this season anyway to get more people involved like Iggy ,who needs to handle it alot more...

Jerm 06-25-2006 07:04 PM

Iverson never played as a swingman. He's just a combo guard.

kentatm 06-25-2006 07:10 PM

Gordon over JRich?

No he's not. Playing the position at times doesnt make your position or Odom would be 1,2,3,4. You get a clue. His entire basketball career for the majority he has been a forward. So YOU get a *****ing clue.

WilliamPhiladelphiaSmith 06-25-2006 09:10 PM

Yea man Pierce is definitely an SF.

I live in CT and i get access to FSN Boston, and right now he doesn't really use his speed or stay out on the perimeter.

More physical, larger, and plays like a bigger guy, hence a Small Forward.

Initiates contact and often scores on drives or whatever, and at times I think he'z 6'8", just purely for the way he plays.

Sczerbiak and Gerald Green fill up the SG.

AS Previously mentioned the guard rotations in Boston consist of delonte, tony allen, orien greene, wally s, gerald g, and some scrubs.

G-Wiz, calm down on the "get a clue" shiit, you are really lacking credibility nowadays..

He continues to talk out of his ass is all. Like I said before he isnt as smart as he thinks he is. But I can hear him whining now "I'm only 16  I wanna learn, be taught!" But ehhhh who was the one telling someone else to "get a clue", "period"? :confusedshrug: Kids a *****ing dope. And TMOGE may be right, he isnt 16 like he claims, much older. Wouldnt put it past him considering how long he has been 16. Like he is stuck in time.

XxNeXuSxX 06-25-2006 09:57 PM

Right. Why the hell did you say "get a clue" anyway, Geewiz? You don't live in Boston, yet you think you are the king of this team? You need to get a god damn clue. Please research before making ridiculous statements, as I know you are generally a very knowledgeable poster.

Damn what an arrogant little biich.

I've noticed he'z been stalking you down and he been extra meticulous in looking at your messages. That other thread, as an unbiased viewer he didn't necessarily hand it to you nor did he do S.H.I.T to prove he'z smarter than u.

Wierd azz guy trying to portray the protagonist with his childish "i wanna learn, good guy, faultless, book reading" antics.

Signs of a true nerd, and someone who'z neva encountered anything short of a suburban rich, boring, education is everything childhood.

Needs some drugs in his life, A reality check, a family death, a car accident (tho i doubt he has a car) something to see the opposite more "street" part of life contrasting to the sheltered, bookreading, nerdy ass.

A common sense "boost" to be simple.

Before making ridiculous claims like, "Gobb I'm smarter than u," "Rudy G** didn't show up GMU,

By the way, I'm not on your nutz, it'z just that I resent this dude having the mentality coming out of the thread like he'z a winner but on the flipside he'z a delusional, stubborn, inexperienced clown.

Good point. Pierce also played SF when Ricky Davis was in the starting lineup at the 2. I guess there are some who just know fantasy NBA & base everything on that..

ROFL @ The lack of Michael Redd.

And AI doesn't "actually" play SG. He's a PG now. Played there all year.

true. but he is still a score first pg. I forgot Redd, id take out Howard.

Spike Spiegel 06-26-2006 02:35 AM

Yes, that's true, but then what about a guy like Arenas? Would you consider him a SG?

Just so it's clear.

305Baller 06-26-2006 02:39 AM

Just looking at this list reminds me how much talent is in this league right now.

Hmmm. I guess that would also bring Francis, Marbury, Baron in the mix with shoot first pg. Ok, Ill remove AI & add Rip Hamilton. Rip is a solid jump shooter and good d because he is so quick

Wally is the sf now, because he is slow and can't dribble.

Pierce is now the sg, he guards the sg.
