Miami's offensive efficiency
Miami's Top 5 scorers are all scoring at or above 50% FG.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/MIA/2014.html
It's incredible.
It seems like Lebron and Wade's strive for efficiency has translated to the rest of the team.
Not only that, but Chalmers, their 6th most prolific scorer this season, has a TS% of nearly 64% thanks to his extraordinarily high 3FG%.
-
Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
Joel Anthony 100% TS and eFG

Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
They're taking good shots.

Their 3-point shooting ability is just silly at this point.
Lebron, Allen, Chalmers, Cole, Battier, Lewis, Beasley... heck even Bosh.
This team is crazy.
-
Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
chalmers one of the best three-point shooters in the league
-
Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
Offense hasn't been their problem that's for sure. Defense has been pretty bad though.

Yes, this team is truly scary. They just need to improve their defense and rebounding.
-
Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
They already had the highest eFG% in the league history last year. This year may take it over the top.
-
Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
Chris Bosh leads them in rebounding with 6.4 a game...:biggums:
-
Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
If you're a Miami fan, I can imagine how maddening it is to see them play such crappy defense and be such a poor rebounding team.
The defense is simply on vacation, but it's still there somewhere. The rebounding is just mind boggling. There's absolutely no excuse for them being the 3rd worst in the league.
Just like last year, it's a question of if/when they can put it all together. Then you'll see another 20+ game win streak.

Oden, fingers crossed. At this point I don't even mind not seeing him til the playoffs.
Just the thought (unlikely) of him coming out and sonning Hibbert on the boards in the playoffs...

Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
For Lebron to have a better season than before he has to figure out how to get 25ppg while shooting close to 60%. That's some high ass standard dude put on himself.
What makes this so impressive is the fact that they have no good big men who usually shoot over 50%. Team is built on perimeter players.
-
Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
By the end of the season, James is averaging 25 ppg on 60/40/80 shooting. That's ridiculous.
-
Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
Miami cavaliers:lol :facepalm
But damn they shoot the ball efficiently, unless Indiana can rape them inside I guess the heat will take it out again... Just stacked..
-
Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
They are an incredible offensive team for the 2nd year in a row. Here's a post from RealGM:
122.8 ORTG tonight, up to 115.1 on the season (or ~114 by BBR's season page), which should be just over a +10 offense through 9 games, again, picking up right where they left off in the last half of the 2013 season.
Now consider the following:
-Miami is dead last ALL TIME in ORB% through 7 games (18.5%), and through 8 games are EVEN LOWER at 18.2%
-Miami is #1 ALL TIME in eFG% through 7 games (57.9%) and through 8 games are now at 58.9%. 2013 Miami is #2 all time.
-Their TOV% and FTR are middling
I think they have a serious shot at the ORTG record (87 Lakers: 115.6), the ORTG differential record (04 Mavs: +9.2), AND the highest Z-score for an offense (07 Suns: +2.8) this season.
Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
They are great offensively..beasley helps for them to spread the floor. Defense is clearly an effort thing for them right now. Hardly something for them to worry about.

modern day 06 phoenix suns all o no d.

Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
Incredible weird TEAM stats... we all know it's Lebron and scrubs right? It's not like Wade carried Lebron for 3\4 of the finals and Ray saved his ass.

Wade was better than LeBron in 1 game in the finals and LeBron was pretty good in that game anyways.

Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
they got scorers :confusedshrug:
Nash' Suns team was like that too.
-
Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
Oh no way, they might get the highest Z-score ever for an offense!?!

Lebron is on course for the highest TS% ever by a player over 20ppg (Barkley).

Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
Interesting stats really.I think as heat grow older, it's becoming obvious that is all about efficiency for them, especiall during regular season. They will be ready for when it counts( vs Pacers in the playoffs finals). Statistically, i think Lebron is past his prime(talking pure nubers) and he has focused all his energy in being better by being part of better/efficient team. I think his 30/7/8 days are over, because he doesn't care for this anymore if it is to have an impact in his game during playoffs.

This Heat team can be a very good defensive team. Very different from the Suns.

obvi, but to this point (less than 10 games) they are comparable in that aspect
something that prob not continue

both team got scorers and shooters that makes double teaming useless.
-
Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
That high percentage efficiency, why not get the easy buckets?
Lebron works the post and gets layups..or passes to a cutting Chalmer to get the easy layup. Opposing coach gets frustrated they're scoring too easily so they try to send more help when he's inside. He adjusts by goes standing outside raining 3's like he's in practice. Or he could drive then kick out to Ray Allen for the 3. When he gets tired or trash minutes, send in Beasley to dissect their defense all over the court.
This counting for Wade and Bosh when they get inconsistent at times. Imagine them hitting their shots.

Well he's clearly trolling, ignore.
-
Re: Miami's offensive efficiency
It's very refreshing to see a team full of players who value efficiency more than volume point totals. Guys who would rather pass for a better shot than to add to their own PPG.

Be interesting how much Oden can give them when he is said to suit up by dec/jan time.

2nd in offensive efficiency... (barely ahead of the Clippers)
Yet 24th in defensive efficiency.
So, Heat fans, what wins championships? Offense, defense, or how hard you homer for your team?

Scary efficient. A bit lazy on the defensive end, but nothing that can't be fixed with some effort and energy.

Spo is a good coach, but his rotations are still shit. Also, he's all about efficiency and defensive energy. The guy is HUGE stat nerd.
On a side note, Lebron had a 56% TS% on the Cav's and 62% on the Heat.

Spo doesn't get a "rotation" til March, he doesn't care about dropping a game here or there to try something
