Rondo?
An exception, not the rule. Go ahead and find me another successful point guard with zero shooting touch who is successful in the modern NBA. I'll wait.
Even with nobody guarding him, Rubio's shot mechanics are still terrible. He's shooting set shots... in a charity game.
Kill me now, Lord.

And that's why he's been working with shooting coaches all summer

So if he's working on his jumpshot before he even steps onto an nba court what's the problem? How can you hate on a 21 year old kid working on his weaknesses with coaches before he plays a single game...
My god.

Re: Ricky Rubioooo
will help him out that in the NBA, he'll be surrounded with better players/finishers.
his shooting though :facepalm

Because a shooting coach won't fix everything. Aminu worked with a shooting coach before and after he was drafted, and after his hot start at the beginning of the season, he fell back down to earth.
I have no problem with Rubio. I have a problem with people citing Rondo as a reason Rubio will be successful in this league.
Christ.

Jason Kidd.
Jason Kidd.
Both Rondo and Kidd are all-world defenders.
Kidd won his ring after he developed a 3 point shot.
What is Rubio, again?

You know Defense is one of Rubio's strong points?....

Looks like in Euroleague he averaged 2 steals a game and in eurocup he averaged 2.4 steals a game.

Good job. Stats that rely on gambling really help your argument.
His comparison on nbadraft.net is Jose Calderon. That really tells you all you need to know.

It also says his comparison is Steve Nash too...But selective reading can be fun...
Personally I think Jason Kidd is a good comparison.

What I cant understand...
I mean I can not grasp this concept at all....
What kind of people hate a player because other people are fans of them?
So foolish.

The guy who won spanish defensive player of the year...
And to your other post all you're stating is that he has a weakness like many rookies who are coming to to the nba. And all I'm telling you is that he's working with trainers to fix his that weakness. I'm not saying I know the result of that training but talking like because he doesn't have a jumpshot at age 21 is gonna determine his whole future seems irrational to me.

Rondo all world defender?...you kidding me right?...Rondo is an exception because of what he is surrounded by and also his ability to jet past virtually everyone. Rubio most certainly won't be jetting past everyone

Re: Ricky Rubioooo
Americans obviously have no clue as to how pathetic his offense was in Euroleague.
Like how pathetic Jennings was?
Rubio has a style that is suited to the NBA and not Europe, you of all people should see this.
He will be a fine NBA player.
He has speed, size, flair, defensive ability and court vision. 5 valuable things in the NBA.
-
Re: Ricky Rubioooo
Kidd was no better a shooter at the same age roughly.
-
Re: Ricky Rubioooo
the kidd comparisons are ridiculous. right away we all knew kidd was gonna be a superstar from his first season in. he had elite speed, elite handles, elite vision and elite rebounding for a PG. had an incredible knack for starting a fastbreak from his own rebound. sure he had a shaky J but it never made us doubt he was a legit NBA star.
rubio has nothing elite about his game at all.
