Hakeem in his own book said he was 6"10 without shoes.

LeBron was a hair under 6"8 without shoes -

Which is what I initially posted. I merely added that some articles and publications, at the time, even went so far as to claim that he was only 6-8. In any case, I have no idea where the 7-0 listing came from. Nor did it really matter, either.
Adjusted caclculations...
1988 Lakers
Magic Johnson - 6'8"
Byron Scott - 6'3"
James Worthy - 6'9"
AC Green - 6'9"
KAJ - 7'2"

Tracy McGrady - 6'8"
Shane Battier - 6'8"
Luis Scola - 6'9"
Yao Ming - 7'6"
bingo. i got you another 3 inches. scola did start 39 games that season. :applause:
405"
That would be tied for the lead with the '95 Bullets, as far as I can tell.

I admit to totally f#cking up some basic math in this thread. I didn't feel like taking the time to go through the actual inches, so I was just adding 6'8" as 68 and so on... Completely bone-head, but it actually did tell me which teams were the tallest. It was a good way to quickly weed out the tallest teams, but obviously completely off in terms of actual total heights.
It looks like 40'5" by the 1995 Bullets and 2007 Rockets is the number to beat. Anyone?
Sampson was more like 7 foot 1. Hakeem was 6 foot 10.
I know these aren't starters, but the Celtics in '86 went with this lineup at times.
C - Walton - 7'1''
Parish - 7'0''
McHale - 6'10''
Bird - 6'9''
Ainge - 6'4''

but where do you get 40'5" from?
put 5 7fters in 1 team, you are still 35ft tall collectively. :confusedshrug:
The '11 Celtics starting lineup of Rondo, Allen, Pierce, KG and Shaq came in at 40'4"... Second highest total.

4 a.m. is the major problem, at this point. It is actually 405", not 40'5". :hammerhead:
Let's just go by inches and be done with it. Unless someone else wants to tally this sh!t up. I'm done with it.
Point remains. 405" (33' 7.5") is the most found for consistent starters (at least half of the season for each person calculated).

Did you divide by 10 after you summed things up, since the Lakers were 404 inches tall if I summed up correctly. That would be 33'8" if devided by 12.
Nvm, saw your last post.

Even the 80s Celts regular lineup of DJ, Ainge, Bird, McHale and Parish is up there... Not quite at the top, but 400" (33' 3.3") total. Not bad.
From just doing these calculations for teams that I thought might be close, I'd say anything over 400" total is a very large starting lineup.

I tried several shortcuts before putting my head down and going back to basics. Don't mind my complete and utter retardedness in this thread.

Just one addition, if yiu devide 405 by 12 it's 33'9". You devide 396 by 12 and the rest of 9" are infact 9". Don't devide them.
