Would you do a Manu Ginobli for Joe Johnson deal?
Of course some other pieces would have to be involved to make the trade work, but does this make both teams better? Manu is an experienced player and knows what it takes to win. Pair him with the likes of Al Horford, Mike Bibby, Josh Smith and Williams this team could really make some noise in the East.

Joe Johnson is an underrated player, but he's not much of an emotional leader which is what a young Hawks team could use. The guy can flat out score. Going to the Spurs would pair him with two other all-stars that could help take his game to the next level. Quote:

Considering their age I wouldn't do it if I was the Hawks. Manu is already 31 and doesn't fit in a rebuilding situation.
Also, Childress? Did I miss something? |

Who says he is not an emotional leader? He willed the Hawks to extend the Celtics series to 7 games. He is an explosive scorer and passer, and the number one offensive option on an up and coming hawks team. Manu is good yes, but he is also 4 years older and has played with the best PF in the history of the game; something that is bound to help you. This is a bad deal for the Hawks because in a few years when their young players reach their prime they are not going to want an old Manu holding the reins. |

Hell no. JJ is a very underrated player. he is alot better defensive player then gino and is gonna improve in the years ahead. gino has hit he's prime and isnt gonna get any better. whilst JJ has a much bigger upside and he is a great fit for a young and developing team like atlanta.

it's hard to say ginobili has hit his prime and won't improve when he had his best season just last year.
the only big moves the spurs will make that will affect the core will come in the summer of 2010. no subtle alterations of the big 3 until then. no rebuilding of any kind until we see an overhaul (which of course won't include duncan and parker) |
Re: Would you do a Manu Ginobli for Joe Johnson deal?
I would soooo do that If I were the spurs...

If the Spurs traded Manu, they'd have noone to count on to initiate plays down the stretch. JJ is similar to Redd, he's just a scorer and not much of anything else.

Spurs- Hell yeah in a blink
Hawks- Johnson is almost a superstar |
Re: Would you do a Manu Ginobli for Joe Johnson deal?
Hard move to pull for either team. JJ is the one player the Hawks can rely on, the one guy that doesn't have "young player syndrome". Manu can be relied on except for when he's injured. So the Hawks, being a young rebuilding team, are better off with Johnson.
The Spurs shouldn't break up the big 3. Even if it works towards the rebuilding plan, the big 3 are who won them 3 championships so you have to stick with that. The big 3 are still very productive, it's the old supporting cast that has to be rebuilt. They have been trying to do that by bringing in some of their recent draft picks but so far little luck. |

He's the ultimate competitor, and I think on a team where he was the #1 option he'd put up about 24 a game....he's also exciting and would put fans in the seats as Atlanta's Latin population is really starting to grow |
