Miami v. sun/dallas

there is no way either of these teams can match up inside with miami...

i think its going to be a sweep.

sorry wade....darko beat you to the first ring of the class

AppleNader 06-03-2006 03:26 PM

Actually, the unstoppable twin towers of Diop/Dampier can handle Shaq

There is already an NBA Finals thread...

If Phoenix beats Dallas(which I don't think they will) then it's a sweep for Miami. Noone is going to stop Shaq. If Dallas wins then we'll have a series. I'm still going to take Miami in six though.

Agreed.
Dallas doesn't have great inside game but they do have Dampier and Diop who can both play pretty good defense.
Trust me, Shaq will be bothered by those two.

Dallas beat San Antonio and I see no reason why they couldn't do the same against Miami.

DeuceWallaces 06-03-2006 03:31 PM

Miami could be in for a rude awakening against either of these teams. Phoenix would run shaq and wade to the ground, and they have NO answer for Dirk.

Shaq will be bothered by Dampier/Diop when he wasn't bothered by Ben Wallace? Thats rediculous...

It's called the zone defense...

No, that's not rediculous. Ben's defense is overrated. Ben can't guard Shaq one on one. Dampier and Diop will do a better job in that regard.
Seriously, Ben was never able to guard Shaq.
Not saying Dampier and Diop will be able to stop Shaq but I'm sure they're going to do better than Ben.

Diop and Dampier are below average centers and neither can guard Shaq

Spiderman08 24 06-03-2006 03:43 PM

I dissagre. They might be below average (although I consider Dampier an above average center) but they're both big and defensive.
Ben doesn't have the size to guard Shaq. Dampier and Diop do.
Again, I'm not saying they"ll stop Shaq but I'm sure they"ll have more succes against Shaq than Ben Wallace.

Is Dampier even in game shape anymore? Hasn't been off the bench this series...

Keyser Soze 06-03-2006 03:56 PM

Big Ben (6' 9" 240) is a great player, but he really is an oversized PF playing center.

Damp (6' 11" 265) and Diop (7' 0" 280) are true centers. More size and double the fouls to give has to help.
