where'd you go ricky rubio
6-8 months ago ricky rubio was the biggest foreign prospect ever it seemed. Then he does nothing but impress in the olympics and haven't heard any bad since? Did he state that he wouldn't enter this draft?

Has everyone dropped him out thinking he isn't or shouldn't come? Why isn't he still a top 3 prospect?

Is rubio able to control where he is drafted? I see him possibly doing a higher level of goran dragic's move

Yeah Im curious too, I havent heard a thing about him. All I know is he got injured and was not going to get drafted into the NBA until 2010 or something like that.

Rubio plays for DKV Joventut in the Spanish ACB and Euroleague. There have been conflicting reports as to whether Rubio will declare for the 2009 draft, or wait for another year or two. He is elligible for the 2009 draft, but he has a $9 Million Euro buy-out clause in his Spanish contract that could pose a problem.

It's still pretty much unknown at this point whether he'll enter the draft or not.

Tabak is right, it has to do with his contract situation more than his talent. He isn't going to make that kind of money as a rookie, and probably even in his prime. I think he will eventually want the challange of playing in the NBA, but things are changing and with guys like Kobe and LeBron kind of mentioning playing in Europe, you know that is where the money is and it will make drafting Europeans more complicated than ever.

Looking more and more likely that Rubio will be in this draft.

From Chad Ford...

Rubio's position in the top three is significant for one big reason: He has a huge buyout from his team in Spain. To afford the buyout, he really needs to be a top-three pick. Publicly, the mood has been pessimistic that Rubio would be in this draft, with a series of international stories claiming Rubio is staying overseas and other draft sites pulling him from their 2009 mock drafts. Privately, his agent, Dan Fegan, has been working on this for months, and we've been getting the same signals all along: Rubio is entering this year's draft.

Re: where'd you go ricky rubio
It looks like Rubio wants to come over, but will this contract situation scare off teams? They are going to have to make sure the buyout stuff is settled and prove it to NBA teams. This can't be something that is dragging out until a week or two before the draft.

Makes no sense at all. He was making 80,000 euros net and his team gave him a raise to 600,000 euros net for this year and the rest of his contract in order for him to agree to stay until the buyout would go away. His agent sounds like he doesn't even know about the contracts his own client has signed.

Then again I can see why he would want to enter in this draft. He had a horrible Euroleague season and his team will not qualify for the Euroleague next year, which means he will be playing in the second level Eurocup again like he did last year.

So no chance to show scouts what he can do in the Euroleague next year trying to come off this horrible year he had.

Re: where'd you go ricky rubio
Rubio had a horrible year? WHAAAT? He was just named defensive player of the year in Spain.

The other knock on Rubio was that he can't shoot...

Well guess what...He's leads the league in 3 point percentage at 49%. WHILE PLAYING WITH A CAST ON HIS SHOOTING HAND.

He also leads the league in assits at 6.3 per game, and is second in steals at 2.1..but in only 21 minutes a game!! The reason his minutes are so low is because of his wrist injury, he was only playing a few minutes a game when he first returned from surgery.

watch this sick pass..
