CLEVELAND -- Joe Smith is about to become a Cavalier, again.

The Cavs and the veteran 6-foot-10 forward agreed to terms on a one-year contract Tuesday night. He is expected to sign the deal once he clears waivers Wednesday morning and should be able to join the team by Friday's game at Boston.

"After careful consideration of his options, Joe has decided that the Cavs are the best fit," Smith's agent, Dan Fegan, said.

Smith was contacted by several teams after getting a buyout from the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday. He averaged 6.6 points and 4.5 rebounds in 36 games with the Thunder this season. He played 27 games plus the playoffs with the Cavs last season.

No surprise there... great timing considering the Ben Wallace injury.

The only thing is that now we're not going to see as much J.J. Hickson, who Cavs fan thinks is nothing short of amazing.

So, basically they got Mo Williams for Damon Jones.

Cleveland becomes more dangerous offensively with Smith than with Wallace. If he can weave into the team defense well enough, they might not even miss Wallace at all.

I don't expect him to be in the lineup Wednesday if he signs Wednesday. Hopefully he'll be in the rotation when we play Boston later this week and have one practice under his belt.

He should definitely start, if anyone remembers him back in Chicago he was a beast and their best offensive threat scoring about 20 ppg.

Cant start. Bad legz. And we wouldnt have any bigz that can score off the bench seeing that he'll be taking Hicksons spot even though he hasnt played consistent minutes throughout the season.

Which Joe Smith are you talking about.. At his best Joe Smith was a decent tweener.. He put up good numbers early in his career playing with GS Warriors who were a run and gun team..Nice pickup because he is better than the rookie the Cavs are playign but he makes no difference. He can only score on open jump shots.. He is a decent defender as well. To combat the Lakers or Celtics the Cavs need some athleticism. Besides Lebron every player on that team is either slow or too short.... TITLE IS NOT HAPPENING...

he'll fit right back in he's not one to start trouble like drew may have... maybe not as good as pick up but should only be positive or neutral results coming out of this.
