Re: The Offcial ISH OTCL Mock NFL draft 2009

The Lions seek to end the curse of Bobby Lane, and select Matthew Stafford, QB Georgia Bulldogs. Matthew has the physical tools to be an elite QB in the NFL. The key to his success will be how he is managed by The Lions coaching staff. He can be a bit of a gunslinger, and has a dash of Favre in his makeup. Stafford's numbers improved every year at Georgia. His completion percentage jumped nearly 6 percent between his sophmore and junior years. He also added about 1.5 yards per completion and 6 touchdowns.

Re: The Offcial ISH OTCL Mock NFL draft 2009
With the second pick, the Rams select:
Jason Smith, 6'5'' 309 lbs. Baylor

With the departure or Orlando Pace, the Rams are in need of a franchise tackle. I was able to see him in the UConn game, and he had no problems handling the speedy defensive ends from UConn. Smith should easily be a 10 year franchise LT, and is well worth the second overall pick.

Will edit in some more after UConn plays today.

Re: The Offcial ISH OTCL Mock NFL draft 2009
Sorry fellas, this will be the last time it takes me this long to pick. With the third pick in the 2009 NFL Draft the Kansas City Chief select

LB Aaron Curry, Wake Forest

At 6'3" 245 lbs. Curry has the size and strength you're looking for in a Linebacker and 4.56 40 speed to boot. He has great instincts and is never slow to the ball. A great form tackler as he rarely whiffs on them. Great fundamentals at the LB position. He can rush the QB and is capable of playing just about anywhere on the field.

Even with all that is good about Curry, he still isn't great in coverage and his hips aren't fluid as you would like them to be.

Re: The Offcial ISH OTCL Mock NFL draft 2009
With the 4th pick of the 2009 NFL Draft, The Seattle Seahawks select WR Michael Crabtree of Texas Tech.

Seattle just got done paying big money to T.J Houshmandzadeh so you know they want to win now. Crabtree is the best playmaker in the draft and in only 2 years at Texas Tech, he had 231 catches, 3,127 yards, and 41 touchdowns. He has that same type of upside that previous college stars, Adrian Peterson, and Darren McFadden have. His speed and injury made me second guess myself but the upside is just too much not to pick him here.

I think it's Matt Stafford, not Stanford.

Re: The Offcial ISH OTCL Mock NFL draft 2009
with the fifth pick of the 2009 draft. the Cleveland Browns take

Brian Orakpo (DE/OLB) from Texas

simply put, the browns could not reach the opposing QBs last year. Orakpo and is strong and athletic, his pass rushing skills look like they will translate into the NFL and with Willie Mcginest is getting up there in age, Brian will be a welcome addition, fitting in at either DE or LB.

BJ Raji or Everett Brown could be a possibility, but i think Orakpo has the best upside.

Re: The Offcial ISH OTCL Mock NFL draft 2009
The Bengals select:
Eugene Monroe,6'5'' 309 lbs, Virginia

The Bengals need a new OT with the departure of Andrews. Monroe has good size, and he was also an impressive force against UConn like Baylor's Jason Smith. He could play either LT or RT, so the Bengals could put him wherever they like.

Re: The Offcial ISH OTCL Mock NFL draft 2009
Uncle Al and The Oakland Raiders select 2008-09 Outland Trophy winning Offensive Tackle Andre Smith of the University of Alabama.

Rumors of his draft freefall have been greatly exaggerated. The Raiders fortify their offensive line with one of the best values on the board.

Re: The Offcial ISH OTCL Mock NFL draft 2009
With the 8th pick in the 2009 NFL draft the Jacksonville Jaguars select:

Jeremy Maclin.

After accumulating more than 5,600 all-purpose yards in two years, Maclin is a threat to score on every carry (scored six career rushing touchdowns), reception (22) or return (three punts, two kickoffs). His solid frame, elite speed and elusiveness are reminiscent of an early Joey Galloway, and could translate into a top 15 selection. Maclin was eligible to enter the draft this spring because he missed his true freshman season with a knee injury suffered in July practices. Had an arm span of 32 1/4 inches and a hand span of 9 1/4 inches at the combine.

Jaguars pick him here because they are in dire need of a playmaker at the WR position, especially after releasing Matt Jones. They haven't had much luck with first round recievers, but hopefully this selection will buck that trend. He is also one of the best return men in the country, punts or kickoffs.

Re: The Offcial ISH OTCL Mock NFL draft 2009
With the 9th pick in the 2009 NFL Draft the Packers select

DE/LB Everette Brown, FSU

You have to believe that if Brown is there to be had at nine, The Packers will jump on it. At 6'2", 260 he has exceptional speed and is a pass rushing demon (11.5 sacks last year). He's the best 3-4 rush end prospect in the draft and the Packers will need another pass rusher on the other side of Aaron Kampman if the transition to the 3-4 is going to be successful.

Re: The Offcial ISH OTCL Mock NFL draft 2009
With the 10th overall pick of the OTCL mock NFL draft the 49ers select:

B.J Raji

from draftcountdown

Outstanding mass and bulk...Excellent strength...Stout at the point of attack...Can fill two gaps...Able to occupy multiple blockers...Tough, powerful and nasty...A beast against the run...Can really collapse the pocket...Able to penetrate and make plays in the backfield...Above average athleticism...Quick and agile...Pursues well and has a burst to close...Good instincts and awareness...Will offer schematic versatility.

Mike Singletarry wants to build a defensive tough team out and Raji would be a perfect pick at the #10 spot. He is a perfect NT in San Fran's 3-4 system where they have been lacking a NT for the past years. Patrick Willis is already a world class LB and with Raji eating blocks the sky is the limit for Willis. Raji would pair up with Justin Smith on the niners D-line who is a beast and has a non stop motor, Raji will help out Smith also and give him more 1 on 1 situations instead of taking multiple blocks. The niners take Raji in the first and a Olinemen/WR in the second and a CB in the 3rd. The 49ers will have fresh D-linemen perfect for the scheme; Balmer, Evans, McDonald, Soporaga, and Franklin will all rotate in.

Re: The Offcial ISH OTCL Mock NFL draft 2009
With the 11th pick in the 2009 NFL draft the Buffalo Bills select...

Aaron Maybin, DE/OLB, Penn St.

Bills need help on defense in the pass rush department. This guy is a bigtime pass rusher. Probably a little green coming into the NFL and might not have the size. But he can be in the mold of a Dwight Freeney where size doesnt matter much outside of pure speed and athletic ability. Aaron Schobel needs help on the other side. This kid could be it. TE was is a need but a reach. Take the best player available and one that fills a need. Win, win.

Re: The Offcial ISH OTCL Mock NFL draft 2009
With the 12th pick in the 2009 NFL draft the Denver Broncos select...

Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU

Mike Nolan the new defensive coordinator. 3-4 scheme, Tyson Jackson is the perfect fit at DE in the 3-4. Brian Cushion is an attractive pick based on his versatility at all 3 LB positions but with Raji, Maybin, E.Brown all gone? This fills a need and adds a quality talent in a new def scheme Denver will run. Solid pass rusher and run stuffer. Will definately help the front 7.

Re: The Offcial ISH OTCL Mock NFL draft 2009
with the 13th pick of The Offcial ISH OTCL Mock NFL draft 2009 the Redskins select:

Michael Oher (OT, Mississippi)

With Jason Taylor being released the Skins do need to fill a hole at DE, but with Tyson Jackson and Aaron Maybin already taken they will look to improve their less than impressive o-line with the BPA in Oher. An injection of youth is undoubtedly needed and in Michael Oher they would have a versatile lineman who has impressed at LT in college and should be able to tidy up a couple of minor issues with some good coaching.
