Re: Should Orlando have guarded the inbounds pass?
First off, props to LeBron for making great shot. Hedo defended him very well but he was still able to pull it off.
But he's not even touching the ball if someone were standing more directly in front of Mo Williams. After Fisher's shot vs. the Spurs I thought this had become common knowledge.
Were they or weren't they guarding the inbounds?

The polay was a lob first so he cut that off and LJ adjusted and make a great shot.

Re: Should Orlando have guarded the inbounds pass?
According to Lebron, the Magic had seen them use that play before against Indy and they defended it perfectly.

Re: Hedo, Ehlo, Hedo, Ehlo, Hedo, Ehlo, Helo, Ehdo, Ehhe, Lodo, Hedo, Ehlo
I do agree that Lebron's was probably at least equally as difficult as the MJ on Ehlo shot (Jordan had to like triple clutch that shot and was moving sideways).
Well, I don't know. I do think MJ shot was a little harder. Michael had to create space, then dribble a little to get a better shot and shot at the FT line. I think the Jordan shot was contested better. Jordan seemed like he had to use his hangtime trick and then shoot the ball.

Re: Should Orlando have guarded the inbounds pass?
Hindsight is 20/20. With that said, I would have guarded the inbounds pass in this situation even though I think it's a little overrated. With one second left, altering the pass can be the difference between a win and a loss. Of course, after we saw what happened, it would have been a great idea to double up on LeBron and not allow him to get the ball.
-
Re: Should Orlando have guarded the inbounds pass?
They should've doubled LeBron. You know it's going to him, and there's only 4 guys who could shoot in the scenario. One should've stayed on Bron's side between him and the ball, and the other between Bron and the hoop.
You know... I still feel sick to my stomach after seeing him make that shot.
That could've iced the series for the Magic.

I'm talking about the shots themselves. Yes, Jordan had to do a lot more work to get the ball and lose his defenders and get to that spot on the floor to take the shot. Plus, like I said, he was fading sideways and had to triple cutch. So it's a harder PLAY, yes.
-
Re: Should Orlando have guarded the inbounds pass?
Crap... I just heard about this. WTF! I still think the Magic have a chance. If they can win the next two games at Orlando the series is theirs.
-
Re: Should Orlando have guarded the inbounds pass?
With 1 second left, I leave the inbounder alone and double their biggest threat. 1 second isn't enough for the inbounder to get a good shot off, and I feel pretty comfortable even if one of West/Pavlovic/Z (I think that's who was out there) get a good look.

*laughs*
You can enjoy your night. I acknowledge the LBJ shot, and it was a great one. But...have more confidence in your team, man. If the Cavs could keep their leads, then this wouldn't really be a series.
The same goes with the Magic. They should shoot off in the first half instead screwing up.

Anyone else think the clock didn't start as soon as LeBron touched the ball? Reminds me of Derek Fisher.
:oldlol:
To answer the OP's question...I'm pretty sure Jerry West would stick with his original choice (Kobe).
Anyway that was a great shot by LeBron...reminded me of Kobe's shot against Detroit in 04...but if the Cavs don't win this series, everyone will forget about it so the important thing for them now is to win the series.
Laker fans keep bringing up that shot.. It was only a shot that tied the game.. This one won it.. Rip defended that shot bad but still Kobe had to make it.. Props to kobe for that one... And thanks to kobe i won 5000 on that finals.. He stunk it up after that shot.. THanks kobe..

Definitely. Look at the second pic. The clock is at .5 remaining, which means it took Lebron .5 second to catch + release it AND the ball looks to be about 10 feet away from his hands too. I still think he got it in time though but it was much closer than it looked.
-
Re: Should Orlando have guarded the inbounds pass?
Cavs were going for the lob. That's why Lewis was guarding it at that angle. I think rest happened too quickly. Lebron only broke free from Hedo just enough to get the inbound pass.

Oh ok. I was just looking at the highlights on NBA.com and I paused it right when LeBron grabbed it and it looked like the clock didn't start right away when I played it.

Dude, 0.4 is a VERY short time. There's no way he caught and shot that in 0.4. He deinitely got the shot off before the second yes, but NO way in 0.4 seconds. Think about how quick Fisher's shot was in order for it to be considered even close to 0.4 seconds.

Re: LeBron James' buzzer-beating shot over Turkoglu to win Cavs-Magic Game 2
I'm not hating on the shot but I do find it kind of funny how much time Lebron had to rest before he took that shot, if anybody look at the replay again...the Cavs called a 20 sec timeout and then the game was stoped again because Lebron was bleeding...then the refs had to check the clock for some odd reason giving Lebron more time to rest to the point where he has enought energy to hit the game winner, I'm glad this happened on a weekend because ESPN would have spent a week talking about that shot.

It would a little annoying, but the shot was great. The thing is, the Cavs have to win the series for that shot to have more meaning.

This should've ended the thread. Best in the final 5 minutes of close games the last 2 seasons, most GWs in the regular season and now most GWs in the playoffs too. His conversion rate on GW shots in the postseason is an unreal 5-9. Yep, not clutch.
And if Cleveland wins series, this is easily one of the 5 biggest shots in league history. Down 2, season on the line, 1 second left, and he wins it with a very well contested 3 from 3 feet behind the line. A shot doesn't get bigger and more clutch than that.

Amazing shot.
That single shot saved the Cavs entire season.
Has any team every come back from being down 0-2 with HCA?

Not in the Conference Finals. 3 teams came back from an 0-2 deficit, but they didn't have homecourt ('71 Bullets, '93 Bulls and '07 Cavs).
