Official Hasheem Thabeet Thread

Name: Hasheem Thabeet

Height: 7'3"

Weight: 267 lbs

2nd overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft

He's probably my 2nd favorite Rookie in the NBA after Blake Griffin.

I was really impressed with his performance in the NCAA Tournament last year after he averaged 13.8 ppg, 10.6 rpg, and 4.2 bpg.

Thabeet is one of the tallest player in the NBA, and I think he has the potential to lead the NBA in Shot Blocks in the near future.

Awards

National Defensive Player of the Year (2008, 2009)

co-Big East Player of the Year with Pitt's DeJuan Blair

All American 2nd Team 2008, 2009

2007 All-Big East Rookie Team

I am not really a fan of the Grizzlies, but I am going to watch some Grizzlies games because of OJ Mayo, and Hasheem Thabeet.

Remember this guy? I hope it's not the case though.

He's a Bust. Sene was an unproven player when the Sonics selected him in the 2006 NBA Draft.

Thabeet is a better athlete than Saer Sene. He's also one of the best college shot-blockers in the NCAA.

I think Hasheem is going to be a solid starting Center in the NBA cause the Center position is weak.

9 points, 9 rebounds, 2.0 bpg in his Rookie Season.

21 ppg, and 12 rpg, 3.0 bpg ( Peak Stats)

I want him to do well - he's a Grizzly, so I automatically want him to do well. But, I don't think he's ever going to make up for going 2nd in the draft. The guy will have to produce a lot and produce quickly for me to think that picking him 2nd was the right move.

He might lead the league in blocks a couple of years from now, but outside of that, I don't see him making any sort of definite impact.

The great thing about taking thabeet is that we have Marc Gasol. Thabeet can come in slow and not have that much pressure on him.

Completely agree. I'd love to see him do well, but I simply do not believe that he was worth the 2nd overall pick. I never see him being more than a mediocre player in this league, and don't see any real immediate impact from him.
