Bears, Steelers, Giants & Cowboys
Why do these teams always have fans in every part of the country?
I live in Dallas, and anytime I go to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch my Bucs play, there's always a big group of Bears and Steelers fans. And when you watch games on tv with these teams in it and they're the away team, it sounds like the crowd is more in their favor than the opponent. I know the Cowboys are/were "America's Team" and the Steelers have always had fans all over the nation. I just don't get it. It's crazy. I always see someone wearing a Steelers or Bears hat or shirt, in Dallas, every day. |
Re: Bears, Steelers, Giants & Cowboys
Dallas is obvious, unsure about Bears/Steelers love. Where do you live? If you're watching the TB Bucs play it seems the fans there have looked for a team to root for football wise. Cant blame them how pathetic the TB franchise has been history wise.

Re: Bears, Steelers, Giants & Cowboys
The Steelers because of their history have a similar bandwagon to The Cowboys. Before a lot of expansion places with no teams in their region often aligned with The Cowboys, Steelers, Redskins, or Raiders. The Bears can be explained by the fact that people from Chicago are spread out in nearly every corner of the country. At my school, which is in Florida, Chicago is second to only Miami in regards to cities of origin.

Re: Bears, Steelers, Giants & Cowboys
Don't see many Giants or Bears fans.Cowboy fans i see alot of,and most can't name 5 starters.
The steelers just won the SB so i have seen there jersy around alot more than i did pre SB. Bandwagon fans? I dono. |
Re: Bears, Steelers, Giants & Cowboys
I guess people like the Cowboys and Bears because of their history?
People like the Steelers because they just won the Superbowl.. But I'm not sure about the Giants. |
Re: Bears, Steelers, Giants & Cowboys
I'll comment on the Steelers:
Pittsburgh has lost a big chunk of its population, so their fanbase is spread out across the country. I get that, and I get that people who actually LIVE in the area root for the team, but being in the next state over, there are just as many Steelers fans as there are Bengals/Browns. Seems very bandwagonish, and I bet half/most those people have no ties to the area. They just like to align themselves with a winning product. I'm SURE they all like the Pittsburgh Pirates as well  |

See this is where i don't get the cowboy wagon, there are a ton of them, don't know anything about the team or it's history, and most of the younger generation of fans have never seen them win a playoff game:violin: |

Re: Bears, Steelers, Giants & Cowboys
Well the Urlacher jersey was a top selling jersey for quite some time. Plus alot of people from Chicago migrate across the country because of the weather. Go to any public place in any other city and you'll mostly likely come across some people from Chicago.

I also think Bears fans and Cowboys fans are easily the most annoying fans in the world. Steelers and Eagles fans come in a close 2nd.

Re: Bears, Steelers, Giants & Cowboys
Dallas is up there not only b/c of past history but b/c they were the first NFL team to start marketing themselves nationwide. Their goal was to be the most popular team in cities without a team and the second most popular in towns with a team. They have come pretty close.

Re: Bears, Steelers, Giants & Cowboys
I hate those stupid towels... It's like every Steelers fan in existence has one and waves it around. You see the Denver game? Denver has a very big following, is loved in Denver, and was 6-1... yet still there were Steelers fans everywhere. Pittsburgh is not a big city... either those fans from Pittsburgh have nothing else to do and go to every game, or their are a bunch of bandwagoners... most likely both.
