will all verbal fellating records be broken by the media after Favre wins MVP?

I have this sneaky suspicion Brett Favre will win MVP this year. He Brees or Manning will all likely be suitable candidates, but Brett might actually have the best numbers. And given all the media fawning there has been over him, do you honestly think a reporter will not vote for him? The story writes itself, it is good for their business if he wins, and they will all get to lavish him with superlatives much to their pleasure.

Be prepared for the biggest 4th estate man on man fellatio/fluffing there has ever been.

Let's see:

1) Favre is having the best statistical season of his career.

2) Favre's numbers are arguably better then both Brady and Peyton

3) Favre's team is tops in the NFC

4) Favre winning would make a great comeback story

He seems like a deserving candidate as long as he keeps this up.

He said you can make an argument.

Favre could finish the season with the best TD/INT ratio of ALL TIME. He's on pace now, at around 9. If he does that, you almost have to give it to him.

Saints WILL NOT finish 16-0.

the most impressing stat from favre this season is 3 interceptions. if your only going by stats for the mvp and only between quarterbacks, favre wins it hands down.

favre 2874 total yards 24 TDS 3 INT 10-1
brees 2746 total yards 22 TDS 9INT 10-0
manning 3415 total yards 24 TDS 11 INT 11-0
brady 3049 total yards 20 TDS 6 INT 7-3

however you do have to account for mannings comebacks this season as a thing of beauty.

Its not time to make those arguments yet...

farve is playing great, but so are some other guys... vikings gotta over a month to go before the postseason begins....

playing great, but its only week 12.. they dont give out trophies in week 12...

Im thinking of last year when every one was handing the Giants a trip to the Super Bowl and naming the MVPs and whatnot in week 12... Or how about the Patriots the year before? :oldlol:

like I said... Farve is playing great right now but that means nothing at this point.... got alot of games to play

I've been saying Manning should get it all season long, but the Colts just refuse to lose, which might just hurt him in the end. The Colts are 11-0 and they might clinch home field through the AFC playoffs within 2 weeks. Once that happens, we'll be seeing a good fill of Sorgi.

On the NFC side you've got Brees and Favre who will both be playing since those 2 teams are going to battling it out for that 1st seed. One of those 2 guys will probably win it and right now you've gotta like Favre to get it. Out of the 5 remaining games for Minnesota, Favre only needs to play once more on a field that's not in a dome (home) or warm weather conditions and that's against a pretty poor Chicago team in week 16. You gotta think he's gonna keep this up given the circumstances.

Favre is playing great, there is no question... but this argument that his numbers are better than other quarterbacks solely for the TD/INT ratio is beyond stupid. I've seen plenty of Viking games where Favre tossed a bad ball that hit a defender in the hands and they dropped it. Others were tipped without being intercepted. He has thrown up numerous jump balls where his reciever catches the ball, or the defender just doesn't make a play on it....whereas other guys throw it up for their guy to make a play and it gets picked. It happens.

On the other hand, Peyton has thrown quite a few picks where his throwing hand got hit, end of half deep bombs, receivers not being on the same page as him, and tipped balls.

He has probably had about 5 or 6 real picks where he made a bad read/made a bad pass. Those other ones don't count, and is yet another reason why stats lie. I don't care about total interceptions because every interception has a story. Every attempted throw has a story really. Just because quarterback 1a throws a pass that gets tipped and intercepted doesn't mean he's playing worse than a guy who throws a ball and hits the defender in the hands and drops it.

I don't know how to can give it to Favre convincingly. The criteria is simple... the most valuable player with wins being important, and stats factored in as well.

Having said that, Peyton is having just as good a year as Favre is statistically and otherwise, his team has a better record than Favres with less talent to help him, and he's actually MORE valuable to his team. Take Favre (and Harvin while we're at it, he wasn't on the team last year) off the Vikings and put in a non-starter quality quarterback in Jackson/Freotte and they are a playoff team.

Take Peyton off the team and replace him with a non-starter quality quarterback and they don't win 7 games.

Manning has 600 more passing yards, and has a 1% better completion percentage than Favre. They have the same amount of passing TDs, and Favre has 8 less picks. Favre's passer rating is also higher than Manning's.

I'm the farthest thing from a Favre fan, but I have to admit... What he has done this year is pretty amazing. At this point, he may actually deserve the verbal fellating for once. I've always considered him a touch overrated in the grand scheme. He routinely choked in the playoffs and the times he did make Super Bowl runs, it was on the backs of some of the greatest defenses in NFL history.

However, this year, he has been phenomenal. I thought that, after the initial few weeks, he would go back to his old gunslinging, mistake-prone ways. He has kept this thing going for 10 weeks. I have to give it to him.

At his age, to be playing like this... Phenomenal.

This happens to every QB in the league, why do you make this exception for Favre? EVERY qb should have more int.

I've always thought that those eventually even out. The ill-advised balls that are thrown up by QBs and the WRs turn them into catches are usually equaled out by balls that should be caught and are deflected into the lap of a DB.
