WNBA season, sleeper teams: Phoenix

I know I am a bit of a Nash homer.

But I really like the acquisitions of Hedo and Josh Childress. Hedo on the wing is a 6'10" penetrate and pitch player with a jumpshot near Nash's level. Both these guys will be able to get each other open looks, and with Childress and Warrick cutting hard to the hoop, Phoenix is going to be able to score in buckets next season.

They all of a sudden got really long and much more athletic. They are really going to give defenses all they can handle.

This is the first time the Suns have been 'long' since Nash was there and in the NBA today, this is one of the most underrated things to be as it often times translates directly into deep playoff runs.

Too bad Hedo won't be playing the wing, the Suns envision him at PF. :oldlol: I'm serious.

I'm not as high on the Hedo pick-up as you are. Hedo works best as a point-forward. Controlling the ball and setting up plays, not as the guy who gets set up. I could be wrong (it wouldn't be the first time), but thats how I see it.

As far as a sleeper I could see the Clippers sneaking in the playoffs. If they play a fastbreak style of ball it will max out the effectiveness of Baron Davis. I also see Blake Griffen, Gordon, and Aminu being really good fast break players. I also like the pick-up of Eric Bledsoe.

I like the look of the Suns now. I was never really a fan of Amar'e and he somewhat turned me off of watching the Suns, but now they've got Hedo and Hak, who I love to watch (sans Hedo's year in Toronto). Should be very fun to watch.

Not to mention they have Earl Clark, one of my favourite players in college basketball. He didn't get the minutes this past year, but hopefully this year, he gets some more playing time. Also got Gani Lawal this year, another very nice pick up which should be helpful in the long run.

Overall, I like the look of this team and I hope they do very well.

the Suns run a lot of 4 perimeter 1 post sets, traditional positions don't really mean a lot on this squad.

they could run Lopez in the post, have Childress working the baseline the way Marion used to, and Nash, Hill and Hedo working the penetrate and pitch on the perimeter.

there will also be a lot of times Warrick, Lopez and Hedo will be on the floor together.

it isn't like Hedo is coming in there to do what Amare did. he'll have a similar role to that which he had in Orlando.

Man, Izzo, Your threads make me :applause:

Give me hope for my team. I honestly think the Suns aren't going to completely fall off. They always find a way to make things work and surprise.
I haven't seen much of Hedo but I know he can help with spreading the floor and moving the ball, he's a good shooter so I know that'll help us out big time. Can't wait to see them play.

It's pissing me off to keep losing games cause Gentry decides to stick Janning, Dowdell and Clark in during the last quarter. C'mon man! it's preseason...it doesn't count...but it's frustrating.

Warrick has post moves? I always thoought of him as a tweener SF/PF.Mid range shot and athletic as hell .I could be wrong or maybe hes developed.

I really want see what Earl Clark has to offer as well as Gani Lawal.

Anyways iam hopeing the suns fall off because the Warrios need to take their spot as the 7th or 8th seed.

Yes, the Suns should rather play in the WNBA if they hope to win a title someday.

But I doubt they'd get past Seattle.
