No. 1 overall draft pick Sam Bradford has agreed to a six-year, $78 million contract with the St. Louis Rams, with $50 million in guaranteed money.

The Rams and the former Oklahoma quarterback concluded negotiations Friday night, just in time for the first full-squad workout set for Saturday. The guaranteed money is the highest ever in the NFL.

Only in the NFL does a newcomer to the job make more money than well established peers.

Too bad it doesn't work that way for the rest of us out in the real world :oldlol:

The Raiders yesterday officially agreed to terms with QB JaMarcus Russell, the No. 1 pick in the '07 NFL Draft, on a six-year, $61M contract that guarantees him $32M, the "richest rookie contract in NFL history,"

That was 3 years ago.

When is the next collective bargaining agreement in the NFL? The rookie salaries has to be the #1 issue. I know Goodell has even agreed its ridiculous when Jake Long got what he did going #1 overall.

I'm just waiting for when primetime comes in here and argues that Bradford is the second coming of Joe Montana. :oldlol:

It really is ridiculous to give any rookie 50 mil guaranteed. Especially since he's coming off an injury to his throwing shoulder.

This is disgusting for a rookie to get 50 million guaranteed. I know Peyton, Brady, Rivers, Brees & McNabb are laughing this up right now, while their respective owners are smacking themselves because they are going to have to shell out some serious cash to pay their star QB's.

Breesus won't ask for such a ridiculous contract. Peyton and Rivers might though.

I have no problem with them getting paid. If the NFL makes the contracts guaranteed then I could see a case for dropping the average amount a player makes. Other than that I am of the mind that the players need to get there's as early as they can before their bodies break down.
