Revisiting the Battier-Gay trade

Houston traded Stromile Swift and the draft rights to Rudy Gay (8th pick) for Shane Battier.

Looking back, would you guys say it was a mistake? Knowing what they would do for their respective teams would you have done the trade still?

I love what battier brings to the table..... i would do the trade again.....

but part of my thinks that battier has not led to much postseason success, so if i could truly go back i might keep gay, just to see if there is a chance for a championship run with him (since I already know that battier has not led to a championsip)

Re: Revisiting the Battier-Gay trade

I hated this trade. Yea in the end it worked out and Battier fits the team now, but back then we needed 3 scorers because Yao and Tracy wasn't enough. Rudy could've learned a lot from a healthy T-mac back then and also improved his defense, and just think how we could've used Rudy in the playoffs. Back when it was still JVG's team and the Rockets made it to the playoffs Yao and T-mac were the only 2 scoring in double figures. Houston needed a player like Rudy because to me our defense was fine, our offense wasn't.
