Presumably, this is a move to allow the Hornets to get rid of some contracts, even if Brackins only has a low-level rookie deal. Smith is in the final year of his deal and Green could be in the final year of his.

Songalia, entering his eighth pro season, averaged 7.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 19 minutes per game in 75 appearances for the Hornets last season. He also has played for Sacramento, Washington and Chicago in his career. He is considered a good shooter, with a career field goal percentage of .499.

Brackins, 22, was drafted by Oklahoma City out of Iowa State and then traded on draft day to New Orleans in the cole Aldrich deal. He has now been traded a second time before even playing a game. Brackins struggled at times with the Hornets summer league in Las Vegas and is only 230 pounds, meaning he will need to get stronger.

Green averaged 8.7 points and 2.1 assists last season in 73 games.

Smith posted 3.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in 57 games.

Doug Collins is expected to meet with the media this afternoon.

I dont know who the dudes from the hornets are but Willie Green is a black hole chucker and Jason Smith is a super athletic but supersoft white guy, so im happy.

This is a pretty even trade. Damn I thought Willie Green would be a Sixer forever.

I like how Darius is said to be a good shooter yet he'll be playing behind Brand, Young which means he'll see limited action to "shoot" in the first place. This trade was obviously for Craig Brackins who from little I know is a Soft Forward. I'm not complaining at what Sixers gave up. Not much to say is all.

Songaila is a solid journeyman, a decent defender despite what you'd think, makes open shots and plays hard. He may be getting old now but still had an important role on the Hornets.

The other guys I have no clue about except that Brackins is money from 3. Hornets must not have been very excited about him considering what they got back.

Unless Doug Collins decides to bury Brand on the end of the bench to try to force a buy out.

How much time is Darius even getting? He avg 19mpg for NO but they werent as deep at the front court spot as the Sixers are. And Craig Brackins is not money from 3.

Jason smith will have the best career of anybody in the trade

Too bad he didn't go to the nuggets with 2 dominant low post players like carmelo and nene to try to play off of

now that rasheed is done and okur is close Bargnani is the best 7 foot floor stretcher followed by hawes + yi, and I think smith might be the next in line

I think brackins could have an nba career as a rotation player too, but still see smiths ceiling being higher
