Dampier visiting the Suns today
The Suns are meeting today in Phoenix with free agent center Erick Dampier, Suns President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby said.
Dampier, 35, is a 6-foot-11, 265-pound center who could be of help for a Suns roster lacking size, rebounding and interior defenders. He is considering Phoenix, Toronto, Houston and Chicago, according to a league source.
Dampier is a 14-year veteran who was released by Charlotte last month because he had a $13 million non-guaranteed salary. The Suns would likely be offering their biennial exception, worth a salary of about $2 million.
"We're going to meet with him," Babby said. "We've got to do our due diligence."
Dampier, a career starter, averaged 6.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks last season for Dallas, where he started 47 of the 55 games he played.
"Phoenix is a really good team," said Dan Fegan, Dampier's agent. "He had a great year last year. The Suns lost a big man and need another big man. It's a great team and a great place to live."
Fegan also represents Suns guard Jason Richardson, who is hoping foran extension as he enters the final year of his contract.

I think he would shore up our backup center spot pretty well, not sure how he fits in with the fast paced offense (probably doesn't) but when things get slowed down, he's another big body to throw out there and rebound.
