Tyrus Thomas gets a Top 3 Promise

Quote:

Ian Furness of FAN 1080 in Portland - The FAN 1080's Ian Furness reported in his blog today that Tyrus Thomas has cancelled his workout in Portland after being promised a top-3 spot in this year's NBA Draft.

Most speculate that the Bulls are the most likely candidate to have promised him the spot.

There will be more news on this as it is available.

Could this mean that the Bulls already know that the Raps are taking LaMarcus so the Bulls are promising Tyrus at the number 2?

Or could the Raptors be taking Tyrus since he's come back to Toronto for workouts numerous of times already.

Very Interesting...

It'd be tough for Aldridge to play center but for Thomas it'd be impossible. It's either Chicago or whoever the third team is if Thomas was promised a spot.

Zombles 06-19-2006 04:56 PM

Thomas thinks he's a God damn SF so I kinda doubt he'll ever play center.

Kind iffy pick for the Bulls, they already have one defensive big man with no offensive game and effort problems.

Real Men Wear Green 06-19-2006 04:59 PM

Chandler's offense is terrible, but there's nothing wrong with his effort level from what I've seen, which is admittedly limited (National TV appearances and Celtic/Bulls games).

chandler doesnt have effort issues

I'm a bulls fan, and I don't want Thomas.

His stock is over-rated from the NCAA tourney.

I want Rodney Carney, Bargnani, or Morrison @ #2.

Then Muhammad Saer Sene, or Shawne Williams @ #16, not JJ Redick

Please pray for the Bulls to not Pick Tyrus Thomas...

Pray for them to sign Drew Gooden...:applause:

Thomas doesn't have a gaurentee, he's just an idiot. His agent probably thinks that by creating the illusion of a guarentee, the #4 or 5 team will be tricked into thinking they got a steal.

Maybe inconsistent was a better word to use, I dunno, but sometimes he just seems to lapse into this passive mode where he's not really active. It's probably a mental/confidence thing.

I wouldn't be suprised if the raptors promised him at the #1 pick. Think about it.

-He's coming back to Toronto this Saturday for his 3rd workout with the raps
-He can play D, Rebound, Block Shots
-Colangelo said himself as a GM you can't be afraid to make moves because of what other people think
-Colangelo has gotten guys to play crazy positions, maybe he has something in mind with Tyrus?
-Colangelo likes and drafted Shawn Marion, Tyrus is compared to Shawn on different draft sites, maybe Tyrus is our new Shawn Marion?

Fatal9 06-19-2006 05:05 PM

If the Raptors draft Tyrus then Colangelo throws all of his credibility away. He's smarter than that, he wouldn't do it. Tyrus is the last thing we need, he is a tweener between SF and PF...we already have two of those as the cornerstones of our franchise. There is NO reason for us to select Tyrus.

craigthomasb 06-19-2006 05:08 PM

i see thomas as a right handed josh smith

can block shots like crazy, can dunk, rebound and tries to shoot jump shots (but their usually weak)

i hope we dont draft thomas, but if he came into the elague and averaged 2+ blocks a night, he might be a good fit for the raptors

The Raptors can always do the Magloire trade that we've heard reported over and over in the media, and go with:

Mo Williams
Joey Graham
Tyrus Thomas
Chris Bosh
Jamaal Magloire

Maybe there's some truth to the rumor afterall. Who knows...

Joey Graham cannot play the 2 position in the NBA, he isn't fast enough on defense and cannot handle the ball well enough on offense.
