Right. The original.

I agree with Simmons when he says that one thing that made the original so great was the creation of so many memorable characters. The characterization was so stellar that anyone who is thinking of writing a screenplay should watch this movie.

PS - there was a mystique surrounding martial arts in the early/mid 80's, and that added to the coolness factor of these movies - well, at least the first 2. By the time part 3 came out in '89, the cultural 80's were over and martial arts had lost some of this mystique, and that added to it being one of the greatest unintentional comedies of all time.

What I disliked about the 3rd movie is that his love interest wasn’t even really a love interest. Daniel was strictly in the “friends zone.” Then the girl leaves halfway through the movie. Either develop her more or don’t include her. Would’ve been cool to see what became of Johny in the 3rd movie, but then it would’ve been cheesy if Johny somehow helped Daniel out.

I saw the oriiginal like 10 times in the movie theatre. All of those times we had the theatre to ourselves more or less since it was a out in nowhere theatre that had it.

Elizabeth shue was HOT back then and was in a lot of those 80's flicks. I like that Bananarama song too, every time i used to hear Cruel Summer i'd think of Daniel-son on his date at the arcade :lol
