The signing became official Thursday, March 3:
http://www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=7296 The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have signed forward Corey Brewer. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Brewer (6-9, 188) was originally the seventh overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He holds career averages of 9.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 25.7 minutes in 232 career games (147 starts) with Minnesota. |
Re: Mavs sign Corey Brewer
What a signing. Yeah he's totally inept on offense, but now the Mavs have a legit defensive presence against Kobe and Durant. Big time.

He's long, athletic, plays good defense, and can hit the corner trey. Kinda surprised more teams weren't after him. :confusedshrug: |
Re: Mavs sign Corey Brewer
They should start him immediately.

Re: Mavs sign Corey Brewer
Good for them hopefully he gets the recognition he deserves.

Re: Mavs sign Corey Brewer
Dallas have all the ingredients to come out of the West. Nice Bounce back after they lost Caron Butler

Re: Mavs sign Corey Brewer
Huge. I really wanted the Thunder to get him or for him to go out East.

Re: Mavs sign Corey Brewer
They got him at about 2 million. Pretty good deal.

Re: Mavs sign Corey Brewer
So happy to hear this. Favorite scrub in the NBA didn't go to my least favorite franchise in all of sports (Celts). So glad to see he went to a contender without going to the devil himself.

Re: Mavs sign Corey Brewer
Brewer is more athletically gifted and younger, but this move kind of reminds me of the Mavs using guys like Andrian Griffin, Devean George, and drafting Maurice Ager right after Wade tore them up in 2006. Guys who provide defense, but not the most offensively potent players. None the less, it provides Dallas with more depth, and if Butler comes back that's not a bad SF rotation at all.

Re: Mavs sign Corey Brewer
Adrian Griffin and Greg Buckner, Kobe stoppers for 3 quarters; Vince, Pierce, and those type of guys too. Nelson just never was smart enough to leave them in in the 4th quarters though and those guys would just erupt. Every time!

What recognition is that? I think he's widely (and fairly) regarded as world-class athlete, a good perimeter defender, a much improved outside shooter, but otherwise a very limited offensive player. |
