Column: Russell Westbrook drama suggests Thunder may have a problem

Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Scott Brooks may have won on some levels after Thunder-Mavericks Game 2 with the decision to stick with guard Eric Maynor, but something may have been lost with his starting point guard Russell Westbrook, despite what is being said publicly. There may in fact be a problem.

How do we know?

Despite a horrid offensive showing in the first half of Game 3, Brooks stuck with Westbrook the entire second half. And while Westbrook’s final offensive numbers were respectable, a lot of that came while matched up against the diminutive and defensively-challenged J.J. Barea.

Much more. Read the whole thing: http://www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=7701

Dude they have to get rid of Westbrook.

He's NOT a championship point guard, and even tho theyve been able to avoid a major, visible implosion I think it definitely will happen if they dont move him.

He obviously has a problem being in Durant's media shadow. And his repsonse to the situation is hurting the team. Of course, even on his "own" team he might play the exact same way so its possible he'd keep any team from realizing its full potential.

Dude just seems like the opposite of what kind of mindset you want from a point guard. I'd dump him like radioactive waste.

Russell Westbrook is Steve Francis before he went to HOUS. Hes like6'3 with a crazy w ingspan, could essentially play SG since that is his mindset.

He has shown himself to have a bit of a temper problem and seems to have the potential for being a head case.

I think the Thunder would be better served in this series if he was a SG and Maynor was the PG b/c he just does not have the court vision or mental makeup for running the point.

He may be able to learn to be a better PG in the future but I just would not trust him late in a game if I was a Thunder fan.

I also agree with the article that Dallas is trying to bait Westbrook into dominating the ball.

They should trade Westbrook and Perkins for CP3 and Okafor.

Not like the Hornets will get better offers for CP3.

All Russel Westbrook does on the floor is to dribble and dribble then jackups questionable shot selection or turn the ball over.

Dude is still young though and I hope he realize that he needs to move the ball more often.

I still don't believe the majority of these 'internal problem' issues related to Westbrook. Shit is way overblown.

Don't blame it all on Westbrook.

That's a decent trade for OKC. They get an up and coming PG with a pass first tendency and a fantastic outside shot.

Golden state on the other hand would struggle with both Westbrook and Ellis in the backcourt.
