What is Phoenix going to do?

Next to the Bulls, the Suns are my favorite team. What can they do to become contenders again?

Tax cuts to encourage population growth. Then eventually they will become a "big market" and will be able to win nba championships.

they're screwed.
they don't have a core of young studs.
their two best players are old.
Yet they need Nash to sell tickets and hopefully get to the playoffs where they will lose in the first round.
Tough position for any GM.

I dont know they have no building pieces. They should look to rebuild and have a bad season or two so they can get some high picks in the draft. Nash even at his age is still a good trading piece. He could help Minny, maybe trade him for Beasley.... :confusedshrug:

They let Joe Johnson go, they let Amare go, they let Marion go.

One thing they could do is this (not a huge deal, but would provide some offense):

Pistons get

Josh Childress

Suns get

Ben Gordon

The Suns get rid of Childress, who is awful and take on Gordon, who can provide some offense off the bench. They take on a bigger contract, but it is also shorter in length.

The Pistons get rid of Gordon and get about 40% reduction in salary by getting rid of him. Childress can take some of the minutes made open by Prince's probable departure and Hamilton's likely departure.

AK47 is a free agent. He would fit that team real well. And they have cap space to sign him.

They've been so frugal in the past 5-6 years, I wonder if they start to spend some serious dough soon.

Who do they take with the #13 pick I wonder? and how much cap space do they have going into the offseason?

Nothing really. Blow it all up and rebuild.
The Phoenix management has fucked Nash over so bad. They just can't make up their mind whether to rebuild or win now.
If not trading Nash, why not just resign Amare and go all in?

Re: What is Phoenix going to do?

I believe both Nash and Vince Carter will be in the final year of their contracts (both are expirers). Both of those players could help a team win a championship.
I would trade both, pref for a decent young player, draft pick and expirer.

i.e. rebuild fast and furiously.

This issue with this is, of course, Nash is the only one who puts butts in the seats.

That's not true. Sarver/Kerr gave Nash his choice. They were willing to trade him if he wanted to go anywhere. Nash wanted to stay. He still wants to stay. Mgmt was loyal to a fault. Amare wanted to leave. He wanted to be the focal point of a team. He wanted to be the leader.
