Free Agency

Suns looking at anyone in particular?

If you could get one free agent on the Suns, what one would it be?

Where are the gaps we have that might be able to be filled by free agents?

Just some questions to get you thinking.

Re: Free Agency

The Suns and the other NBA teams are waiting for the end of the lockout to start making moves. That is why no team was willing to trade a pick even with Vince Carter's instant 14 millions off the books. If the lockout lasts throughout the season then that 14 millions off the books would be useless so that's why teams are waiting for the CBA. I would want a trade that involves Steve Nash for Shumpert and Billups so we can start rebuilding. I wonder if we can get someone or a draft pick for Aaron Brooks. Hopefully more teams are still interested in Brooks. The crappy part is that we have to wait until the lockout ends before some moves will be done. That 23rd pick we gave away might have helped up moved up the draft a couple of spots or we could have used that pick to draft Marshon Brooks. :facepalm I hope we can go after Nick Young or JR Smith! Go Suns! :confusedshrug:

I see lots of upside in Nick Young, I'd like to see him here.

Even though we did just draft Markieff, what about another big? Like David West, for instance?

Or do you think he'd ask for way too much?

Re: Free Agency

Maniak, I wouldn't mind another big. I was hoping Yao Ming would come to Phoenix so he can work with the best medical staff. I think David West is asking for too much money and he is a big risk ever since the injury. The Suns should pass on him since West is not happy with 8 millions a year. I don't really see a big that can impact the Suns in the free market at the moment. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

Yao Ming would be interesting, but even if the medical staff saved his life, I don't think he could run in the Suns system. And I don't want them to retry what they did when Shaq was here.

Take a look at our bigs we've acquired over the last few season. 6'11 Gortat 7'1 Lopez 6'10 Markieff... The Suns are ever so slightly changing into a team that will either be like LAL or SAS (length). What will really drive what we are is who our next big star is, is it one of these guys or another big that we land or do we end up with an all star level guard.

I don't like david west, he's too small (imo) and now after that injury, no thanks. Yao Ming is interesting but he has to be way passed any help to us. He's always out with a foot injury. Our med staff is good but there isn't much to be done for brittle bones and poor structure.

I'd like to see the Suns end up with Iguaodala, maybe do a 3 team trade to land him.. Seems unlikely though.

Free agents by team

On here the names that jump out to me are

Tyson Chandler
Marc Gasolrestricted
Chris Douglas-Roberts restricted
Mario Chalmers restricted
Marco Belinelli restricted
Jeff Green
restricted
Carl Landry
Greg Oden (:confusedshrug: could be worth it if he comes cheap) restricted
Tim Duncan
Andrei Kirilenko
Yi Jianlian

Bolds preferably

I was a big CDR fan when he was in college and would like to see him here. I always hoped he'd go somewhere.
