Sports Science, Dirk has the most unguardable shot in NBA history?

a thread just got me thinking....

being 7 feet tall... and taking those ridicilous step back fadeaways + being a pure shooter + combined with a high arch stroke...

isnt Dirks shot the most unguardable move in NBA history?

"Sports Science" on why Dirk is unguardable: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFYxLN5yvwg

If ANYBODY in NBA history could guard Dirk.... who would it be? rodman? shaq? pippen? how the hell do you contain such a shot?

and it only took 13 seasons to suddenly become unguardable! (where was all this talk before?)

lol jus playing, for sure he's mastered that shot. His back to the basket game improved IMO, helping his overall shot selection and feel for when to shoot. but I've seen him get blocked his fair share too, amidst playoff exits.

Kareems sky hook seemed pretty deadly. I'd probably take that. considering Kareem was 7-2 and when he extended his arm it only got higher and harder to guard.

Anthony was able to stay in front of him and bother his several shots. It's a shame Lebron choked so bad that Anthony's efforts went unnoticed.

Had Lebron played like a decent third option, the games wouldn't even had been close enough for Nowitzki to make any clutch plays.

Dirks shots are easily harder to guard then any skyhook KAJ ever made.

KAJ shot 56% over his career and is the career scoring leader. Nowitzki is at 47% and has never averaged 27. There are issues contributing to those stats beyond the effectiveness of their signature moves but the stats still point to Jabbar's sky-hook being the top offensive move in NBA history.

Kevin McHale Post Game
Charles Barkley Post and Mid Range Game
Kareem`s Sky Hook
Wilts Bank Shot

All Those Shots where Better than Dirk`s and over 50% FG in the 2-Point Region

Comparing apples and oranges when you consider where each player was taking their shots from. Dirk doesn't really have any legit post moves.

Isn't this thread about jumpers anyways? Nobody has mentioned anything about anyone having a better jumper. Stay on subject. This is not about hook shots, lay-ups, dunks, floaters, its about a real shot. A jump shot.

"Most unguardable shot." How are we to determine how guardable a shot is if we ignore how often it's going in? The moves used to set a shot up are a major part of whether or not that shot will be effective. If moves don't matter then any seven-footer with leaping ability could shut Nowitzki down. And that clearly isn't the case.

Sky-hook is a type of shot. And it requires a lot more skill than a dunk. You're just talking a minor point on semantics that was never made in the OP.
