(2) Ohio State vs. (4) Duke: 9:30 PM on ESPN
Should be a great game. I'll list the potential prospects for each team:
Duke: Austin Rivers - 6'4" pure scorer, has a quick first step, a really nice floater, average finisher, streaky shooter, questionable shot selection, mediocre defender...reminds me of Jamal Crawford Mason Plumee - 6'10" PF/C - a really athletic big man with a good frame but with skills that aren't quite up to par with his physical profile, great at catching and finishing, jumper is a work in progress, very solid rebounder, sound defensively, also a capable shot blocker Seth Curry - 6'2" PG/SG - similar to his brother in that he's a great shooter and initially started out as a shooting guard transitioning to the point guard...looks like he could be a good backup PG for an NBA team after a year or so Andre Dawkins - 6'5" SG - can really shoot the ball and has a quick release and is pretty athletic, poor defender Ryan Kelly - 6'11" PF/C - skilled big man that can shoot, pass, and is a solid rebounder...mediocre defensively, a lot of his offensive moves that he uses probably won't translate to the next level and he's not that strong physically, still a solid role playing, high character guy for an NBA team Miles Plumlee - 6'10" PF/C - extremely athletic with great strength but very poor skill level and inconsistency...could get some looks in the second round strictly due to this athleticism and size There's a couple other guys like Quinn Cook, Michael Gbinije, Josh Hairston, and Tyler Thornton that we'll probably be hearing about in a few years. Ohio State: Jared Sullinger - 6'9" PF/C - an absolute force in the low post that's a top 10 pick at worst next year. A dominant player at the college level that'll have to shake the undersized tag in the NBA...showing signs of a developing mid range game William Buford - 6'5" SG/SF - versatile swingman that can put the ball in the hoop...not a great defender or athlete but has all the makings of a backup SG Aaron Craft - 6'2" - PG - a great defender and pure point guard that knows his role and doesn't try to do too much. He's not a bad shooter either. Could be a backup PG in the league. Probably a 4 year guy. Deshaun Thomas - 6'7" SF - a wing player with great size and a solid athleticism and a nice jumper to boot. Another guy who could develop into a decent NBA player Guys that we'll probably hear in draft discussions the next few years...Laquinton Ross, Jordan Sibert, and Shannon Scott Duke's the deeper team and Sullinger may struggle against their length, but I think OSU takes it with their homecourt advantage. |

I'm taking Duke. Think Rivers will have a big game.

Re: (2) Ohio State vs. (4) Duke: 9:30 PM on ESPN3
I think you are understating Kelley's game. He does everything. I want to say he's close to Duke's most important player. He is a lethal outside shooter and knocks down clutch buckets. He can protect the basket, too.
Curry seems one dimensional. If he gets an open shot from behind the arc, 50% chance it's going in. But he doesn't seem to be able to attack the basket effectively. His perimeter defense is pretty bad. It needs work just like his brother. Rivers is inconsistent. He can get to the bucket at will, but I've seen like 2-3 games and his floaters just never fall. I wish he would develop a pull-up jumpshot. He can get going in a hurry though. |

Also, Duke's interior defense is a force to be reckoned with. I think they take this one.
