Isiah Thomas/Bill Russell or Walt Frazier/Kareem

Which duo would you rather have?

Kareem and Frazier. Because they were both great at both ends. To me Kareem is the better center (but I can see why someone would go for Russell) and Frazier is the better pg (and I can't see why anyone would prefer Thomas).

Frazier would torture Zeke. Arguably goat defender at pg position. He can shut down Zeke. But it can not be said for Kareem-Russell. I think Kareem's offensive weapons too much to handle for anyone. Even for the goat defender.

I'd take Frazier&Kareem.

Frazier & Kareem.

I don't think this even needs any explanation. They're the obvious choice.

How Isiah Thomas gets underrated around here these days makes me sad.

Bill Russell has been underrated in this entire era so it's not a surprise to me.

Re: Isiah Thomas/Bill Russell or Walt Frazier/Kareem

In a 2v2, I would have to go with Kareem/Frazier. Russell's skills and intangibles lend themselves perfectly to 5 on 5 but not so much for a 1v1 or 2v2. Kareem would probably be too much to handle.

And the exact same can be said for Isiah. He would find it hard being guarded by an all time great defender in Frazier.

BUT...

In a regular 5 on 5, I'm taking Russell and Isiah. They are both born leaders. They are both insanely competitive. They both make everyone around them better. They are both clutch (yes, Kareem and Frazier are clutch, but i think they are just a notch behind Russell and Isiah).

Their styles would compliment each other nicely. Russell would defend and rebound. Isiah would pass and score. Surround them with the right players and they would be tough to beat.

Walt Frazier is better than Isiah Thomas? Do people not know who Isiah Thomas is?

Not thinking of it as 2v2, Isiah and Russell are clearly the right choice. Like someone else said, you could make the case for either Kareem or Russell...however, that person was stupidly wrong when saying the opposite about taking Isiah over Walt. Isiah is clearly the better player, come on.

I would take Frazier-Cap. If anything due to Kareem over Bill. Russ is an icon no doubt, but Kareem at his peak is arguably the GOAT. Even over Wilt or MJ.

In terms of Clyde vs. Zeke, u have two PG's who have different styles. Clyde was more versatile because he was 6'4 and could defend PG, SG, and many SF's in his era. But Isiah was a better passer and just as good or even a better scorer. In terms of PG's, Isiah could dominate a game offensively better than any PG other than Magic or Big O. And Magic and Big O happen to be big ass PG's who used size as a major part of their domination. Isiah used pure skill, speed, and heart to dominate and didn't have the advantage of size. Not knocking Big O or Magic because they were highly skilled too. But Isiah pound for pound was as great a player who has ever laced them up in my opinion. At 6'1, Isiah could dominate scoring like AI but drop dimes like Stockton all in one. Something that AI or Stockton at that size couldn't really master. Tiny and Paul at that size come the closest to Isiah's level in that sense at that size.

Frazier/Kareem and quite easily.

This is an interesting and difficult decision.

Bill Russell's limited offense means that I'd choose Walt Frazier and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar if it was a game of 2-on-2.

However, assuming I was building a team around one of the duos, I'd go with Bill Russell and Isiah Thomas. I think they'd compliment each other perfectly. Isiah was one of the greatest offensive point guards of all-time. Imagine if he had Bill Russell setting screens and watching his back on defense? Isiah would have offensive freedom like Cousy did to run the fastbreak. Russell is one of the few centers to possess the athleticism to keep up with a fastbreak style of offense.

Easily Russell/Thomas

2-on-2, I'd go with size (thus Clyde and Cap) but the legendary fire and competitiveness of both Thomas and Russell wouldn't exactly make it easy.

This. A well-drilled team built around Zeke and Russell would be ****ing beautiful on fast breaks.
