The season couldn't have gone any worse

We're 8-15. Not good enough to make the playoffs and not bad enough to be a lottery team.
That's the worst possible scenario because we won't get a protected top5 pick in one of the best drafts in a while.

Also Mike D'Antoni is still here.

I should also add two heartbreaking losses against the Bulls and Celtics on top of that.

I didn't expect this even in my worst nightmares.
At first I expected us to be a 38-28 team. After the first struggles I expected us to be a .500 team.
But I couldn't have imagined the Knicks will be a 8-15 team after more than a third of the season even in my worst nightmares.

How ?

If we had a worse record we would at least get a top5 pick.

Getting a top5 pick >>>>>>>> Not making the playoffs and not getting a top5 pick

It could definitely be worse.

1) We would probably get a top5 pick then. Actually it would even be a good thing to happen if they could come back from the injury next season and play like they did before.

2) That's already happening

3) He haven't seen the court yet

4) He's still here

Let me tell you something.
Knicks were getting hyped and set huge expectations for this season. Right now they are 8-15 and 2-11 in their last 13.
D'Antoni is still coaching this team.
They got embarrassed at home against the Bobcats,Raptors,Bucks,Suns and many others.
Gallo scored a career high in his return and led the Nuggets to a win. Harrington also played out of his mind.
On top of that we lost two consecutive close games against the Bulls and Celtics, way to get the players even more depressed.

So yeah,it can hardly be any worse than this.

no way knicks can get lucky with a top 5 pick, even if they are 5 of the worst records at the end of the season

That's why I said it could hardly be any worse.

There's a strong possibility we'll miss the playoffs and we aren't getting a top5 pick either.

If you suck then at least suck badly.

Honestly I don't know what the players have been talking about, but lately they have been playing some pretty good basketball.

I think the team definitely needs to string together some wins soon though.

No time better than beating the brakes off the Nets tonite at the Garden.

The team has nine absolutely winnable game in this month of February coming up.

Take care of the business and the team can at least get back to .500.

I don't think this squad is this bad, I really don't.

No way they win 40 games like I thought they would, but then again I didn't think they'd blow their cupcake schedule either.

I said that in another thread.

Look at the next 8 games:
Nets,Jazz,Wizards,Lakers,Wolves,Raptors,Kings and Hornets

If we don't go at least 6-2 in those 8 you can write this season off because our schedule is as tough as it gets after that.
In out 12 of 16 games we're playing against: Mavs,Hawks,Heat,Celtics,Mavs,Spurs,Sixers,Bulls, Blazers,Pacers,Pacers and Sixers.
And other 4 are against the Nets,Bucks,Cavaliers and Raptors. (we lost against 3 of those 4 teams and we even have a chance of losing against the Nets tonight).

6-2 is a must which would put us at 14-17.
If we go .500 during that 8 game stretch we would be 12-19 before the next 16 games in which we have a huge chance of not even being close to .500.
With the way we're playing it's realistic to expect something like 5-11.

4-4 followed by a 5-11 = 17-30

What I'm trying to say is that the next 8 games will be crucial for us.
We can either get rolling and gain momentum for the tough schedule ahead or we could continue to struggle which would basically end our season.

that was depressing to read
i could understand losing if we sucked, i wouldnt mind it so much
but we are supposed to be a good team, and yet we find ways to play like we suck

and to me, considering how we been playing, going 4-4, and then 5-12 seems like a pipe dream

It is what it is.

This 8-game stretch will finish on Feb.17.
We're less than 2 weeks away from getting the answer on is there any hope left.

It's not like we're losing these games by large margins. We are not getting blown out like in years past. This is a competitive team....just lacks the focus and understanding of each others place on the court. I expect them to turn the corner eventually and sneak into the playoffs.
